Teeth: Invisalign vs. Braces

Hello, everyone. I'm just seeking some advice about whether i should invest my money in invisalign or braces. I'd be really grateful if you could list out the pros and cons of each one and give me an estimate of how much money each will cost.

Thanks in advance.

Gonna watch this thread.
Thinking about getting invisalign as I found out its covered by my wife's benefits.
I just have to want to endure the discomfort.
Thanks for the memories, RFD.
Good-bye.

It will be uncomfortable for both since you're shifting teeth around. I had invisalign and it was the best decision ever. As a professional I didn't want a mouth full of wire as there is still a small stigma against it.

As to cost, you need to go see a orthodontist to get estimates and we can't tell you how much it'll cost because it is based on how bad your teeth is. The more work required the more expensive it is. Most would start at 5-6k though. If you can get it for $4k then it's a deal!

I was quoted $5500.

Seems normal priced to me for invisalign. Just don't worry about the pain and go do it if you don't like your smile! Your confidence will skyrock afterwards!

Used Invisalign for a few years as a braces alternative. Regret the decision completely. They rarely stayed on my teeth, and sometimes I felt that my teeth were changing the shape of the invisaligners instead of vice versa!

My teeth were never straightened in the end.

Either way it's worth it. I'd say if you're still in school it's generally not so bad to have braces anymore (everyone I know in high school has had braces at some point) and it's cheaper. If you're in a more professional setting I'd go with invisalign although my mom had braces a few years back before they developed it and she was fine.

I agree. I know several people that regret not having braces. They seem to have insecurities about their teeth. I see it when they cover their mouths when they laugh or refuse to smile with their teeth. Getting braces is definitely worth it. Also, the pain is no big deal. When I had braces, I would eat pizza and steaks right after a brutal tightening.

Thanks, tbh, my teeth arent that bad. Just a little cramped in the bottom. Never had any negative comments, or insecurity.
But the dentist claims my teeth will last longer eg less grinding etc if they're perfectly straight, and since it's coverd by benefits, may as well.
Thanks for the memories, RFD.

I heard removing front two teeth makes it even better. Invisalign will only offer incremental improvements.

Invisalign is only available if your teeth originally isnt totally messed and just needs some minor alignment.

If you have very bad crooked teeth you'll have to get the wired braces for sure.

I had braces and glad I picked it over Invisalign.

Not true at all, where are you getting your information? Every case is different.

I have invisalign and was originally told by a dentist that it wouldn't work. He said that I would need teeth extracted and braces. I went to a invisalign specialist for a second opinion. I really didn't want braces. Best decision ever!

Theres a girl at my work who had them put in. Her teeth looked like sharks teeth, crooked and staggered. Had them straight in a year with invisalign.

To the OP. Iv'e never had braces so I can't compare but go with invisalign. No wires for food to be stuck in, easy to clean and no one notices you have them.
