The 6 days a week Telegraph Journal and Times & Transcript have a pretty impressive 72% off for new subscribers offer. First year, no contract, $7 a month ($25 a month after that).
The down side is plenty of pro-Irving advertising and editorials. But the news articles in between seem to follow general journalism ethics (for example, the paper pays the meals of food critics, not the restaurants).
If you have an iPad, their e-edition works quite well on it. The e-edition is included in the $7 a month. However, you can get the e-edition only for $5 a month for the first year if you don't want the paper ($10 a month after the first year).
Just go to https://www.telegraphjournal.com/ and click on one of the articles to subscribe.
By comparison, the Acadie Nouvelle charges $11 a month for digital access/e-edition (it is in Press Reader if you already subscribe to that).
There are of course free news sources out there, cbc, radio-canada, CTV Atlantic, La Press app, The Guardian, Bangor News (free article limit). But sometimes local is better.
