[Telus Mobility] Canada-Wide Corporate Cell Plan for Govt Employees

Expiry:
January 31, 2014
More offers from Telus Mobility
This is comparable to the Rogers Corp Plan (http://forums.redflagdeals.com/rogers-c ... c-1348627/). I initially signed up with Rogers but their customer service was so bad, I returned their Samsung S4 and signed up with Telus and got iPhone 5S. I will miss S4's screen size. Plus and minuses with each.
Telus: $70/month. 2 yr contract. Free phone (incl iPhone 5S 16 gb). Unlimited local calling. Until Jan 31, 2014, unlimited LD in Canada. 3 GB of data. $150 number port in credit.

Rogers' $50/month. 3 yr contract. 350 local minutes, 1000 in coming minutes. $5 extra for unlimited LD in Canada. 5 GB of data.

So they gave you a 5S for free on a 2 year? What is a $150 port credit? I thought porting your number was free?

Porting is for free but if you port in from another provider, Telus is giving you a $150 credit on your account as an incentive that can be applied to your monthly bills...

Unlimited local.
There should be a promo that upgrades it to free nation wide ($5 value)

Ontario public sector has the same plans

Normally Koodo does not count as a port-in for TELUS

$50 vs $70 = $20 difference
5 gb vs 3

300 min vs unlimited?

IMO. $70 plus taxes a month is very expensive. We are again being sheep to wireless provider's greed.

Agreed, $70 these days is rather expensive. This isn't much different than Telus's normal sharePlus plans except they have unlimited Canada wide calling and 1gb data vs 3gb data.

$20 more per month is a lot. rogers corporate plan also has $20 plan for voice only. 2 yrs vs 3 yrs makes no difference if its a good plan. rogers corp also allows you to upgrade after 2 years even though its a 3 year contract.

If unlimited calling within Canada is important to you, it is $15 extra per month for 2 yrs = $360 because you can add unlimited calling within Canada on Rogers plan for $5 per month. Telus' plan is also unlimited calling vs 350 min for Rogers (plus 1,000 min incoming as well I believe).

So $360 - $150 (# port in credit, assuming you can't get $250 ICBC port in credit Rogers was offering over Xmas) - $209 (cost of iPhone 5S from Rogers) = $1, excl any present value calculations. 3 GB is more than enough for me. My previous Bell plan only had 500 MB. Plus at home and office, I will use free wifi.

Big draw may be the 2 yr plan. Cell plans have become cheaper over the last few yrs and I think they are going to get even cheaper.
Maybe this type of marketing will eventually come to Canada.
T-Mobile will pay you $650 to switch over. T-Mobile CEO's world with no contracts

Conservative govt just announced yesterday:
http://video.theloop.ca/home/watch/gove ... ate&page=1
http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/steve-e-an ... 77942.html

I am hoping in 2 yrs, I will continue to use my iPhone 5S and go to a similar plan for $25-$35 plus maybe get a port in credit (T Mobile $650??) as well.

My BB Torch crapped out on me so I needed a new phone. I haven't played around much with Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5S yet but S4 large screen is much better and noticeable than iPhone's screen. S5 is supposed to be out in 3 months but I couldn't wait that long.

Yes, BC govt employee. I think it applies to municipal employees as well. Another poster said this is available for Ontario govt employees as well.

They will need proof you or family member/friend work for the govt.

Telus old plan was terrible. I think they only brought this out in Dec. Now that they extended the unlimited calling within Canada to January, current plan is better than what they offered in Dec.
