I would have bought the Essential phone at this price if I didn't really buy an S8 on sale before Christmas. The timing on this is brutal.
Also what the heck is this supposed to mean?

My attempt at quick cheap cell phone humour about a phone/phone deal getting hot again. There are no known issues with the chargers on these phones.
Only issues with my comedic flair.

Yes, but then you need to mess around with pro-rated charges and trying to cancel or port out, etc etc. This way, you can just buy it straight up from the website. No strings.

A few issues when I did own this phone for anyone who would find this helpful.
- Screen does not feel responsive at all, you can actually see the disconnect between your touch and the movement on screen
- The fingerprint scanner in many cases would not register ESPECIALLY while charging
- Cameras are decent, I would suggest downloading the Google camera app
- Despite the claims, it is very easy to scratch the back even with a case on
- Despite the high resolution screen, it is quite easy to distinguish pixels
- I found it mind boggling how even though this phone is using an 835, it was slower than every other 835 phone I've used

At the end of the day, I couldnt live with this phone anymore and upgraded to an XZ Premium, hope this is helpful!

Don't think I'd ever switch to a Sony for myself, but I haven't tried the PH1 so I can't really compare.

My guess is it'll go back to $0 on tab medium on Koodo again in March, plus possiblity of GC to sweeten the deal.
Motorola phone. Linux on 2xcomputers. Brew beer & wine @home.
Home service reseller internet + FPL + antenna with streaming on smart TV
Wireless 1 line w/ Virgin on QC plan, few lines w/ Koodo to get phones, couple FreedomPop SIM's for roaming

Is the Essential PH-1 considered a good phone? Most reviews I've seen are on launch day or even earlier, but apparently there have been many updates since then.

I'm curious as to people's opinions between the Essential, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the LG G6.

I don't think so at all
Telus is unloading it quicker than the depreciation on an LG phone

Stick with Apple / Samsung / Google
Heck even Blackberry has retained value longer
