Was there any doubt this 'For Profit' business wouldn't raise rates.

For Profit = Screw consumers if you can get away with it and in Canada, telcos have carte blanche to bend over the consumer and rail hard, lube free.

My husband received a letter from Telus for $10 increase a month starting March 1. Contacted Telus and the agent gave him 2 options. Either pay the same price but the data goes down to 6gig or pay the $10 increase and he gets an extra 5gig for a total of 15gig.

Does anyone has better offers with Telus?

Thanks for sharing.

I think I'd go with the 5 more gig more for the $10 increase.

I don't think I could go back to 6 gig. I've gotten too used to the increase.

Data, it's a hell of a drug.

I too got the letter. Contacted Telus and escalated the call to Loyalty and Retention (LNR). They also gave me an additional 5 GB extra per month for the $70. I asked if they can also get me some deal on some phone accessories and they gave me a bill credit as a goodwill gesture.

I would have preferred to keep the $60 plan, but at least I got something more for the $10 monthly instead of the typical pay more get the same/less. Now I can listen to my online music with better quality sound lol

Telus is well prepared for this. 6gb for$60 or 5gb extra for $70. They have got you by the balls.

It's all about the ARPU.
Koodo $50.00 8gb S9+
Virgin Mobile $40 6gb S8+
Public Mobile $38 5gb iPhone 8+

Yep and this is why you shouldn't get used to data. The end result is you push yourself into a more expensive tier once the telcos decide they want to extort more money from you.

I mean I kinda get it, if I paid $60 for 10GB I'd certainly want to make sure I got the most out of that 10GB. But then in doing so you're basically being trapped into using more data, and thus paying higher prices. And that's how they get you.

I recently switched from my Telus $60 10GB BYOD plan to a Rogers $80 winback plan with 10+3GB and a $500 bill credit for an iPhone XS. I felt a little bad for ditching the Telus plan but seems like I made the right choice.

$70 for 15GB is definitely no brainer for heavy data users. Thanks for the heads up!
Thanks for the upvote! 😁

Please explain why you would feel bad for any carrier under any circumstance? Canadians have been taken to the woodshed by the big 3 so much that we never feel bad for them.
Koodo $40/6GB
Public Mobile 2016 fall promo, $23/1GB, $38/5GB

If you don't use all your data Koodo is offering $55 for 7GB. Save some $$ per month.

Where are they offering that and thru what channel? Their website states $70 for 7 GB in Ontario.

How is Koodo for reception and coverage in Canada? Are they as good as Rogers, Bell, Fido or more like Freedom and Public Mobile?

Pretty pissed off at Telus for such an increase!
