Tesla Generators - Real or Fiction?
Just wondering what people's thoughts are on Tesla generators, if they're real, potentially real or fiction (or a scam).

Tesla was a brilliant young man, but later in life I suspect many of his chemistry experiments caught up with him and some of his later proposed inventions reflected his many mental challenges.

If you can create a metal disk several miles in diameter, find some superconductive materials and reduce friction to near zero it would work well enough that you might generate enough power to repay the cost of metals in about the next million years.
Telsa describe a very inefficient way of converting waste energy into usable energy again. The thought was that it was waste energy, so any benefit is good, but generally the material costs are pretty high. It has been utilised in the past, such as a crystal radio set, but the amount of energy you're getting is tiny, you can't use it for anything useful.

Tesla created:
- Tesla coil, nowdays used for wireless energy transport;
- first radio (not Bernoulli);
- first AC motor;
- first AC hydroelectric power plant;
- oh and electricity as we know it too (DC can't be used on long distance because the great energy loss)!
So IMO the Tesla generator could exist (Potentially real).

I understand his papers were taken by the US govt on his death, and they contained ideas and plans there weren't carried out. The generator was one.

Are you talking about the ones that are essentially perpetual motion machines, or produce more power than is input?
in that case, Total Fiction

Something about producing energy that's created by the stratosphere and the movement of the earth. Its tapping into a natural source of energy.

Hmmm, does that actually sound real? What energy does the stratosphere create? and how is the movement of the earth going to help, when everything moves along with it?
FICTION!

FICTION!
AC power, radio transmission, and wifi. Fiction!

Your above statement is ridiculous, in no way does my previous statement imply that the above realities are impossible.
AC power is produced by converting DC power. the DC power is produced mainly by burning fossil fuels, or utilizing kinetic energy stored in large bodies of water at significant elevation. Radio transmissions utilize large amounts of electric power. Wifi once again uses generated electric power.
None of the above utilize power generated by the stratosphere, or power derived from the rotation of the planet.
All of the above ultimately derive power from the sun. Although there are other sources of energy, the sun is indirectly the source of most energy used by man.
Unless you care to explain exactly how the tesla generator functions, I can't really help more than that.

I'm not Tesla.

AC power is produced by converting DC power? AC power is produced by sincron generators and converting mechanical energy (water, nuclear) to electricity. Conversion of the DC to AC has great losses!
And radio transmissions can light up a neon.

If this has anything to do with radiant energy, TVO had a show on it about a two months ago. They showed one of only two devices in existence that could generate some electricity from radiant energy. It was very experimental but looked fascinating.
