Tethering Nikon D7100 to a PC alternatives

I'd like to tether my Nikon D7100 to my PC.
I'm looking into some cheap alternatives to a Nikon WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter or an Eye-Fi card.
I'm reading there are two USB cables, UC-E6 USB Cable, and UC-E21 USB Cable, although I don't know the differences between these two.
Basically I'm looking into taking pics and send them to my laptop instantly. A wireless device would be cool but not sure how expensive would be, and I know a USB cable would limit the distance between the camera and the computer.
Loking into something that would cost me less than $30.

Unfortunately you cannot tether wirelessly to a PC.

You need an UC-E6 with a usb extension.

Is there no difference between UC-E6, UC-E-16 (or E-17 or E-21...)?

Only UC E6 or E16, the rest are different.
