Just that! Real tired of boring newspapers, dirty hands, recycling etc. but need constant stream of info. Are there any readable alternatives that are free, especially for local news? I do watch the news on tv and do have assorted communications gear from tablets, pcs, macs, smart phones etc.
My home page is set to CNN, just to give you an idea.

The best thing is to not read the news
Live your life in blissful ignorance of the crap happening outside your "sphere of life"

If you're by a pc, the internet as other posters have suggested.
If you're on the go, you can get newsfeeds sent directly to your smartphone.
If you're driving, tune in to your local news radio station and listen on your way to work. Here in toronto we have AM 680, but in montreal, a quick google search found AM 800 that you can try._______________

Twitter as other suggested. I love twitter to get the most updated news before others even know about it.
In the car I have cbc radio, on my phone I use twitter and I read various news sources online. It's sad how much I like news

Just don't believe everything you read online... John Cena did NOT kill The Undertaker, and Cena himself, DID NOT crash his car, and die on Route 8.

most places are free. only a very few like new york times and wall street journal charge.
though once hard copies of newspapers reach a certain level, all the newspapers will start charging for content online.
