ThinkPad X40 Hard Drive
Well, I just recently retired my X24. Was a great ThinkPad, used it for 3.5 years. Best notebook I have ever owned.
Just purchased a new X40. Was going to wait for the X60 with Vista, but got a great deal on the X40 from IBM.
First thing I do is Ghost the hard drive and then replace it with a larger hard drive.
When I disassembled the drive, I find a new 1.8" drive. This thing is tiny. I just purchased a 100 Gig replacement, but it is 2.5".
I am just ranting. But does anyone know where I can get a 1.8" Drive? Apparently, the largest size is only 60 Gigs. No one I called seems to have one.
The one I am looking for is
Hitachi Travelstar C4K60 60GB Hard Drive
(Parallel ATA-100, 4,200 RPM, 2MB - SKU: 08K1529)

60 Gig
The 40 Gig came with the ThinkPad, I want a bigger one. I am looking for the 60 Gig.
How is the Linksys router? I haven't had time to scan and email you the receipt. Will try to get to it this week.

Yeah it seems like it's a bit too new, hitachi doesn't even have it fully listed in its "where to buy" links. Probably has something to do with ipod manufacturing.
No hurry about the reciept, everything works great

The stupid 1.8" don't even come in a 100 Gigs. 60 is the largest they come.

that's one of the draw backs of X40 cuz of the smaller size HD, the HD speed is also slower so the performance isn't very peppy
