Those with $60/10Gb plans..... Price auto increase to $65 (Fido/Rogers)

Just read this and didn't see it posted yet:

https://mobilesyrup.com/2019/01/03/roge ... an-prices/
Toronto-based national carrier Rogers is increasing the cost of the Christmas 2017 $60/10GB bring-your-own-device (BYOD) promotion plan. As of January 3rd, 2019, the plans will now cost $65-per-month. The price increase also affects Fido subscribers who signed up for the promotional offer. Subscribers will still have access to a 10GB mobile data bucket, unlimited nationwide calling and global messaging, as well as features and services like Roam Like Home, Fido Roam, Fido XTRA and Five Extra Hours of Data. “We regularly review and adjust our plans to reflect ongoing network and service investments so that we can continue to deliver the best possible customer experience,” said a Rogers spokesperson, in an email to MobileSyrup

Technically this does agree with their ToS, not that I'm happy about it or anything. Face With Rolling Eyes

This is what Koodo stands.
What does that mean?

Koodo will likely follow suit.

The next question is what are our options besides fleeing to Freedom Mobile. Is the Quebec Koodo $49/6 GB workaround for out of province still working?

If you're with Koodo, the option is to wait to see if the price changes. In the 10 years that we've had plans with Koodo, the only changes have been instigated by us, including my one data hungry son that has a $55/16GB plan. All of our plans have been grandfathered. Freedom sucks for most. If you're with Rogers or Fido, enjoy your raised fees.

network and service investments? haha, Rogers has been going downhill for years in Niagara. It's actually pretty infuriating how many dead zones there are now.

That's good to know that Koodo has that long-standing reputation. It's ironic that Telus isn't the same, but as always, there's always a first. For those on Koodo, I'd keep crossing your fingers.

I had guessed that pricing would be raised in 2019, but it's a little lame that they waited just 3 days into 2019.

My expectation is that Bell/Virgin and Telus/Koodo will follow in a few months. Mind you, Koodo is very no frills (which is why we left Koodo), so it's possible they'll keep Koodo's pricing the same a little longer.
