Sounds like Powercell. They're sold for 50 cents for a pack of 4 and resold downtown for $1 or $2 too. A lot of asian run stores sell them.

Those Chinese-Made No-Brand Batteries SUCK!
Not too long ago I bought these chinese-made, no-name pair of "AA" batteries for $0.99 cents and the bloody things didn't even finished one side of my 60-minute cassette tape before they croaked!! lol
Only about 22 mins of cassett time
The batteries were grey in color with tiny red chinese characters on the side, bought them at the Dixon flea-market from this indian/punjabi vendor. I guess these things are bought for 0.25 cents a pair and resold at .99 cents in Toronto. Stay the damn away from them because they also leak this brown rusty water when they croak after 10 mins on your walkman.

common sense prevails..
i laugh at the packs of 10 for a buck...maybe worthy to put in a remote control..but useless for anything else..
i belive the big brands like duracell/enegizer just added the best before installed dates on their products about 10 years ago ...before that the shelf life of batteries wasn't known too well...so the cheep dollar store ones could well as be 10 years old.. lots of shelf life drainage.._______________

we have this asian supermarket in Edmonton that sells expired batteries for really cheap. It's brand name stuff but just expired, wonder if that's even legal...

If they worked as well as Duracell, they wouldn't be selling so cheap. You get what you pay for.

Better be careful that they don't leak battery acid inside your electronics too. With such a cheap price, I wouldn't be surprised if the physical qualities of the battery were sub standard as well.
