Flexible use of it in dark lit areas would be one use such as during church weddings.

But I wanted a telephoto to be able to do cityscape pictures of a zoomed CN Tower.

I'm restricted to 20 megapixels as I wait for Canon to figure out what they want to do to challenge the mirrorless market. Since I did think about just zooming with my 24-70 and cropping in post.

I scored a pretty good deal on a new one from the US, just debating on keeping it before it arrives.

I purchased this lens three years back at Henry's and shot for engagements/events, I had to say that it is a beast for its performance in low light environment. IS is a must on sports/event tele-zoom lenses and Canon did it well. On another note, it's very heavy, not ideal for travel.

Personally, I would go for CANON EF 70-200 F4 L USM ZOOM LENS for landscapes - lighter and cheaper. Tripod would compensate for IS and I rarely use bigger aperture for landscape.
