Looking for a tablet to do the following:
1) Note taking during lecture (keyboard dock)
2) Lots and lots of youtube/forum browsing lying in bed (hence the tablet need)
3) Watch movies while I game on my PC
Is the TF700 a good replacement? Or would I be better served getting an iPad or wait for the new Windows 8 tablet? I picked the TF700 as my target since I've read the keyboard dock is second to none for tablets. Also being able to detach the tablet and use it on public transports/in bed is a big plus. Only drawback I see is the temptation of getting an iPad 3 and suffer poor word processing and the price for the Infinity (hefty 700-800$).
Any thoughts?

Personally I'd wait for the windows 8 tablets since they'll probably come in the same form factors as the Asus with the option of an intel processor. I've tried to use Android as a full OS replacement and it still falls short for me in a lot of ways (though maybe it's just me being stubborn about giving up on a full operating system).
That and the new stuff coming out might have some other form factor that you find more appealing than the current Asus dockable tablets. Acer had some cool looking hybrids.

The browsers for android are pretty rubbish compared to what is available for windows, chrome for windows is much better than chrome for android, same thing with firefox, also flash runs much more smoothly on a crappy netbook than on a fancy dual/quad core android device.
I would just get a tablet that is as cheap as you can live with and see what new stuff there is later on in the year or next year, now is a bad time to commit large amounts of money into a tablet. I have a HP touchpad, flashed it to android ICS, pretty good experience, but i still prefer my first generation netbook for browsing._______________
I workout to get big so I can pickup bricks and ****.

The transformer book is identical to the infinity but runs windows 8. This will be a full powered Intel i7 system. No word on price or release date yet.

The Asus 810 is the same but with a less powerful atom processor, runs full windows 8 though.

I currently have an asus transformer and I love the form factor, but it's really buggy. After the ICS update my computer crashed regularly for months until an update came. And there is no good browser for android. Once these are out I'm selling my transformer and buying a windows one.

Thanks for the info! This is 100% what I'm looking for, basically a detachable laptop. I will hold out until these are released then.. I really enjoy using windows. The 14" one sounds perfect for me, since I'm a pretty tall guy. Any info on when these will release and price point?
Edit: Asus needs to step their game up with their product names.. it's all over the place.Last edited by mepatrick; Jun 9th, 2012 at 12:04 PM.
