The HIFI difference is audible on any half-decent equipment, but it's subtle, and I'm not sure it's worth paying $20/month instead of $10/month, particularly since Spotify offers better selection, better UI, and better integration with services like Google Home. Depends what's most important to you I guess.

Before you rush to post that of course your golden ears can hear the quality difference, better try this test first: https://www.npr.org/sections/therecord/ ... io-quality

I deactivated then went to check and I was able to upgrade to the family plan. (I didn't follow it all the way through, I assume it would work since the option showed.)

Edited: See post # 37, I did follow through to let others know if it works or not, (after deactivating account), and I now have a family account.

I tried to add family members after I deactivated and it said I had to have an active account.

Maybe try again, log in and out, and/or use a different browser? I just tried it and it did work even though I had already cancelled the subscription right away.

Upon checking the status of my account after the family upgrade, I see this now:

Did you click on the OP link? Worked for me and others. Maybe try a different browser or device?

imported playlists from Spotify on the spot, don't expect 1:1 as the version might be different depending on artist's availability on tidal, great sound quality but, Spotify can still give it a run for their money, Google hifi Spotify and the trick with the app and web services, you'd be impressed....

I added the family plan.....added my five members after upgrading to the family and THEN cancelled.

My first attempt I cancelled BEFORE adding family members and it wouldn't let me add anyone unless I reactivated.

Thanks OP!

Had the Hi-Fi trial that would have expired in January. Signed up (new account) for Premium that will expire in May. Will take the extra 4 months over HiFi - no significant difference in sound quality for me. Winking Face

Now have to try out Tidal vs Google Play Music (free 2 or 4 months offer). Keep these free offers coming! Thumbs Up Sign

I signed up, cancelled right away, and then set up the family plan. I couldn't actually add any family members though as it said I needed an active account. So I reactivated and then was able to add people. Once they sign up, I will cancel again.

I cancelled the authorization in PayPal just to be safe, but shouldn't be a problem since they are not supposed to charge until the trial is over anyway.
