RFD does not save you money, it makes you buy things you never realized that you needed at a decent price.

May I ask how you got that price? I was doing a quote on almost the exact same laptop, but mine is ~$100 more with only 8GB RAM.

Here is Notebookcheck's review on this laptop: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-Ide ... 629.0.html
The unit they reviewed had an extra mechanical HDD + a video card, so I would assume 5-6hrs of battery life for the model TD has.

Price up already.

And no doubt it has the same wonderful bilingual keyboard that we all love and always will.

That would be my guess. Perhaps they were going for the weight spec.

For a highly comparable laptop, this one is worth a look. The Acer has a slightly inferior CPU (very slightly by all appearances), and the dreaded bilingual keyboard (I was wrong about the Lenovo: its part # suggests a US kb), but on the plus side a 6-cell battery and dual graphics.

Thanks, but this is a work laptop and they'd probably balk at me asking them to buy it from a random person on kijiji.

Should be horrible, 2-cell battery for a big screen laptop with Discrete graphics.

I don't think the 2-cell is as bad as everyone is saying. Since this is a 7th gen i7 + SSD it will give a realistic 5-6hrs battery life. Is that considered low for a 15" under $1k?

I haven't followed the laptop market in around a year, so maybe I'm just not aware of how much better the battery on 15" laptops have gotten.
