I frequently do blind taste tests to find out which brands I prefer for specific items.
About a year ago, I got a black coffee from Tims and McD, and added my own cream and sugar (in case they add different amounts). I was surprised how similar they were. They tasted pretty much exactly the same. Others that tried the test agreed. Overall there was a slight preference towards McD because it had a stronger/better smell. If you were drinking it black, maybe the differences would be more pronounced, but I personally don't like black coffee.

If you like one more than the other, I'd imagine it's either a placebo effect (/brand loyalty), or you prefer the amount of cream/sugar they use. Perhaps one uses slightly more than the other, which your palate prefers. Either way - the coffee itself is near identical. YouTube often 'prove' this as well. Most people can barely tell the difference when it comes to black coffee.

Note: If you visit at weird times, the coffee might get burnt. I went at peak times in the morning for both. Also, I get McD most of the time so I'm not pro-Tims or anything. I just don't think their coffee sucks, and I like their Ice Capps. lol
I drink my coffee black. And, from funny blind tastes i made with friends, I always choosen McD's coffee. Stronger, better. Same with Timmie's dark roast. I prefer McD's

LOL 213 downvotes, -170 rating, and counting. What I don't understand then, is why there's always lineups at this horrible establishment.

Old people and next to no alternative in many situations. Everyone in my small town hates Tim Hortons, but it's the only game in town. The staff here is the absolute worst, and honest to god, everyone hates the place.

At my Tim's they now have a sign on the counter that there will be no more free extra veggies. If you want more lettuce you have to pay extra and you only get 2 leaves. lol what the heck is going on at Tim's these days?

I challenge you! lol.
It's not bad, it just tastes like absolutely nothing. I wasn't aware of how bad their mayo was, but I'm glad I know now? Maybe that's why I hate their wraps.

i tried it on Friday even though i read the forum its not good, I had to give it a try. I agree. Not much taste to it. They must have used extra light mayo.
I survived eating one.....Next!

The cows are everywh…
When I worked in downtown Toronto (commuting from Milton), coffee quality was never a concern. You had your pick of the litter and would shit on Tim Horton's on your way to which ever cafe/coffee shop of your choice.

I've since started working in home-town Milton, and having to choose from only Timmy's, Starbucks or Tim Hortons...I've now fallen into a spiral of coffee depression. I often find myself staring at my Keurig contemplating whether I should find employment back in downtown Toronto. The $4000/year commute via Go Train is really the only negative factor, but then I wouldn't have to worry about which shitty coffee I'll need to choose from in the morning. Hmm...life is so hard.

They are everywhere, and in a sea of unknowns, they are a familiar face. I am pretty certain that most of us who downvoted this thread and say that Tim's has gone downhill still frequently visit Tims out of habit and convenience.
