Oh, thou hath mortally woundeth me - the pen (or keyboard) truly is mightier than the sword

Is that the best that you can do? That's a pretty juvenile attempt at an insult. Do your mommy and daddy know you're already drinking coffee?

Try again.

P.S. I'm sure Tom's coffee would be better than the swill they serve at Tim's anyways

It will be interesting to see what will happen with Roll Up The Rim when it starts on February 27, 2012! For as long as I can remember the contest included Medium (10 oz), Large (14 oz), and XL (20 oz) cup sizes. The Small (8 oz) was not included in the contest.

With the new sizing starting January 23, 2012, I know for certain that the new 24 oz X Large will be included, but the question mark lies above the 10 oz Small (currently Medium) cup. Hopefully they include it in the contest. I have a feeling that they may not include the 10 oz in effort to increase sales even more during roll up season.

It will also be interesting to see the new prize distribution. Up until 2006, Tim Hortons published a prize distribution chart among the three cup sizes and the larger the cup, the greater the odds of wining. Starting with 2007, Tim Hortons stopped publishing this chart and said that prizes were randomly distributed among the three cup sizes however, in the 5 roll up seasons from 2007 - 2011, it has been very clear that in terms of prizes XL>L>M. With the new 24 oz cup, it will be interesting to see if Tim Hortons adds additional prizes for the new size, or if they spread out the current distribution over the four sizes. We will have to wait and see...

This starts today - I'm underwhelmed to see that it is only 4 ounces more. If you're going to go BIG why not go BIG? Bump it up to 30 ounce like a trenta.

If I'm not mistaken the timmies in the US is already this size for XL, I've had it many times and it isn't a ridiculous amount at all.

The only thing I haven't seen yet is the pricing (guess I will tomorrow) but I'd assume that it is in the $2.00 range (XL is currently $1.80).

BTW, The new XL will have 240 mg of caffeine in it (vs. 80 in a redbull) so for those caffeine lightweights, you're drinking 4 redbulls with one XL coffee hahaha.

$2.19 here for the new XL. And MANY people were confused with the pricing/sizes. The only reason I went to Tim's this morning was to see this new "Extra Large" coffee. I am sure I read in the news that Tims was doing this in order to bring their sizing and prices in line with their direct competetion. As far as I remember, McD's extra large was still cheaper and bigger than Tims (old) extra large. So how does adding the new size but giving it a higher price, bring them in line with their competetion? Doesn't make much sense to me. *shrug* (Probably why I'm not a business major or something!)

Tom is related to Tim Horton. Neither have anything to do with the coffee chain "Tim Hortons". It drives me nuts when people say "Tim Horton" as in "I stopped at Tim Horton and got a coffee"

That all being said I only go here....

So the pricing didn't go up, just the names changed. You still get the same amount of coffee at the same price.

Yes, price did went up. Large used to be $1.65 now $1.80. That was the price for x-large.

The price for the name "large" went up (as did the volume), but did the price for the size (mL) go up?

eg. how much did 16mL of coffee cost last week compared to this week? I'm 99% sure that almost every Tim's has kept the same price per mL.

That's because the size went up as well. If you wanted the same amount of coffee as you did last week, you'd now order 2 large coffees and those should be $3.57 (unless that location decided to increase prices).

None of this is about increasing prices; its changing the name of the cup sizes & adding a bigger size....
