I've got about 7 grand saved up to put in a car.
What I want;
1. Fuel efficiency
2. Longevity (I want a car to last at least 10 years so low KM's - around 30-50K)
3. Low maintenance
4. Used (I can't see myself getting a brand new car with the depreciation problem)
I don't want to pay anymore than $270/month.
Any ideas?
I thought about a Honda Accord 2009 used, but it seem expensive at first glance.
And do you think buying Certified is better then buying from a private seller? And how good is "certified" really?

Hyundai Sonata, Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima, Subaru Legacy, Mitsubishi Galant/Lancer. Honda Accord will give you everything you asked for in your requirements.

Honda Accord but I still wonder if you can get that low mileage in $7k....
Try to find it from private-seller locally. Avoid coupes...high insurance possibly and many been abused._______________
You define the moment, then, the moment defines you.

I'm looking at a sedan mid-size.
I prefer to stay under 22K total (including 7K down).
The Honda Accord 2009/2010 looks great to me. But is it possible to find one for under 22K with 20-50KM certified ??Last edited by gulmoh; Mar 30th, 2011 at 10:29 PM.

Depends on what you mean by certified. If you mean the safety type of certified, that means pretty much nothing, just that it can change ownership fine and passed the gov't standards (could have just barely passed or could not be passable at all if you know the right mechanic if you get my drift). If you mean CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) like buying at a name-branded dealership that offers such "premium" used cars then there are indeed some benefits (mainly the manufacturer warranty) but that's not to say there aren't excellent used cars available from private sellers (or even non CPO cars from other dealers).

Somebody mentioned it but I had a Nissan Altima. I finished my lease and got something else. I still miss the Altima. It was great on gas, lots of room and drove smoothly.
