I'm guessing it's the asbestosish material (I don't know what it's made of but it does catch on fire on older cars) covering the CV on the passenger side. This can cause the tire to catch.

my dads old car caught on fire out of no where a while back, it was in a parking lot in the middle of the night so no one noticed until it was way too late, there was almost nothing left...it was so bad the license plate embedded itself into the asphalt
