Toilet Paper Calculation Thread

I have been posting this to individual threads so i figure i would just create a thread that gets updated and we have historical record. Here are some stats i have so far, please note all prices are SALE prices for when i see them in a flyer or if someone posts a deal in HOT Deals section.

If you need something calculated then please PM me or post it here for me to calculate, I can add it in this thread. I will need brand, store, price, # of rolls, sheets per roll, size of sheets.

thanks

How many squares are in a foot? Is each square a standard size or do some companies make their squares larger than others?

I like Kirkland over any others because it's doesn't break easily meaning less bits and pieces sticking to your um um.

This is a pretty good start, but you have to consider quality per sheet as well (ie, thicker toilet paper = less sheets used overall). Not quite sure how you'd measure that though, It'd probably vary too much person to person (even poop to poop).

I use an app to calculate the price per square metres for the few brands I've used (Purex, Charmin, PC) and the least expensive so far is:

Loblaws PC Super Soft Ultra
$15.47 for 30 rolls, each roll having 4.24958 m^2 area

which is $0.1213 / m ^2, or $0.011269135 / feet ^2, i.e. just a little more than your Costco Kirkland record.

Btw if you wanna share spreadsheet data, use a spreadsheet. Tried Google Sheets yet?

some brands have bigger sheets and some brands have smaller sheets. I use sheet size to calculate overall area.

I suppose that's a personal preference, can't give it a numeric value ;)

If you pm me the sheet size, price, rolls (no double roll bs), and sheets per roll ill add it above.

I figured i'd create a thread as there are new threads everyday about good deals on TP and almost none are great deals, this way we can have record of what was on sale and for how much and all the other variables associated with it.

$/sqft is a pretty good benchmark but OP doesn't have data for a lot of it.
It also doesn't help that they change on occasion.
My beloved Charmin used to be like 11x12 (or something) and now it's 10x10.

Even 2ply to 3ply.
I think Charmin is 3ply whereas some (most) of those are 2ply.
I use like 7 squares per wipe with Charmin.
When I use a cheaper toilet paper (especially that 1/2 ply you get in public toilets) I use like a half mile.

Some of the items that are missing calculations because i do not have that data.

As for usage of TP. Men seem to be able to adjust based on quality and type of TP. Women preemptively grab their usual set number of squares.

Your data is more thorough than mine.
Great thread! Even these numbers alone help.

Great post.

Obviously a lot of thought, time & energy went into this. And I thank you, for all kidding aside, I think you've done something very worthwhile.

And I agree about the differences between men & women. Ask any man who's lived solo then with a woman how much the consumption of TP went up in the household, or the type. My lovely wife prefers 3 ply over 2, and Ultra or Soft. As long as it isn't the Publc Toilets "Waxy 1 Ply" then I don't care so much.

Apologies from the Newbie.

Clearly I did the above Quote wrong.

The first sentence was stated by Porksoda, and the last paragraph were my comments in reply.
