had a Toyota Yaris that went over 330,000
mostly highway driven
rusting did it in, not any mechanics
donated it to kidneycar.ca and got a charitable donation credit for tax return

My '99 camry and '00 corolla are still going strong; I could probably squeeze another five years out of these cars with some love and care.
When given enough time, all threads on RFD can and will go off on a tangent.

I had a Camry go till 450,000km before I traded it for a few hundred bucks so I am not surprised Toyota are top. But the study does not tell what year (for Camry, Corolla, Accord, Civics etc...) they included in the results. Anything before yr 2000 IMO more reliable.

They listed only the car that with the cheapest maintenance that can go over 320000km, not all car that can break that mark. Any car can go over 200k miles, but at what cost...

I bet you $100 that the Horizon was cheaper than anything on this list

Also, why is it only Honda/Toyota?

List makes no sense.

However bias the study was...I'm sure it's not based off one car only.LOL
How many other Plymouth Horizons stayed on the road as long as yours?

That's a fantastic question... Probably mine and 2 Dodge Omins. Surprising not on the list is the all greatness Honda Accord V6. Another thought, what year are these cars? Black Karl would not be happy.

I'm with you on that. How much could it cost to maintain a single barrel carburetor! Where is the Astro van? People still use them to this day and they were discontinued a long while ago. Reliable as hell and cheap to fix.

Tune up was a 1/2 cup of water down that single barrel. Worked like a charm. No power anything, including steering. IIRC, annual costs was sub $100 for maintenance. There was really nothing to maintain. I got the car for free from a family friend. The most expensive item was the cassette player.

the only reason they are making cars so complex is to profit off the maintenance - im convinced
