How is Stroman going to be able to handle the negative things the Jays are say about him. He wont be able to handle it.
why not? hasn't that been much of his m.o.? over coming all the negativity thrown his way by pitching with a chip on his shoulder in order to prove the naysayers wrong?

I don't think he will take what they have to say from a business point of view he will take it as a personal insult. Time will tell.

whether he does or doesn't, the most important thing is it doesn't affect him negatively on the field. up until this point he's used prior negativity as motivation to prove people wrong.

If he feels disrespected in the process it will affect him on the field. I really like Marcus but he needs to grow up and he will as he matures.

is stro very emotional? sure. there's no evidence though that the arbitration process will affect him more than anyone else...in terms of on field performance. if anything it could do the opposite as he uses any negativity thrown his way as fire to motivate him.

It's about as bothersome to him as a fly on his shoulder.

Although i feel there are better ways to spend $5M, i will say this about the Granderson move.

He is one that can get hot. His overal 2017 numbers aren't great, but if you look at it by month, you'll see that after a dismal opening month, he put up great numbers the following two, and then cooled down a bit from injuries and stuff. Once he was traded to LA, he wasn't the same though.

But in Rogers Centre, his bat should have good pop. I'm surprised he still tallied 26HRs last season on 527 plate appearances, so there is power left in the tank.

in this day and age $5MM isn't that bad to take a shot at someone who has potential. his number were only slightly better than the ugly stats Bats put up last year. let's hope his "cool down" period was due to injuries and he's healthy now.
oh, and after the 2011 season he's only hit above .240 once...so there is that.
