If Romero gets lit up by the Mariners he needs to get removed from the rotation til he gets his act together. Mariners are the worst hitting team in the AL - get some outs Ricky

I would like to give Happ, Cecil's next start. Try Cecil as a lefty specialist.

Cecil wasn't bad, only one homer. Right now Ricky is the one failing the worst and Cecil somehow is able to lose. It also seems like the bullpen is losing it just as bad as Ricky does.

Jays should go for Cliff Lee if he's made available.

Happ could be better. He needs a chance. When Alvarez hits innings limit, Cecil can start for him then.
Morrow pitched 3 (supposed to be 2) scoreless innings in 1st rehab assignment.
http://sports.nationalpost.com/2012/...t-rehab-start/
Will pitch another 2 inning start in Dunedin and has 2 scheduled starts in New Hampshire. If he gets to 85 pitches he could join Toronto._______________

Maybe this is similar to the Carmelo Anthony situation where there was a report (from The Onion lol) of the trainer punching Carmelo in the balls to keep him injured. Maybe someone needs to give Ricky a minor injury?

Really? You guys are going to give up on Romero already? The pitcher with still the most wins on the team? I think Romero has done enough in the past to earn some patience from the fans. I'm not thrilled with his performance, don't get me wrong, but if I was going to bear with any struggling pitcher, it would be Romero.
There are pitchers this year who are bigger names and are having much worse seasons like Tim Lincecum. Maybe we should skip starts for Romero at the most, but I really don't think removing him from the rotation or sending him down would be a good thing. We're short on healthy starting pitching as it is.

I've given up searching for logic from a majority of this thread ... but at least ^^^ makes sense
I've also taken to ignoring everything psubs says in this thread as it seems to get dumber and dumber as the season progresses. There will be those that praise his "enthusiasm", but it's 99% nonsense that doesn't require a response
I will say this though ... compare Happ's stats to Cecil's over the past three years (I know you don't think research is even a little necessary ... obviously) and show us why Happ deserves a start over Cecil. What is it about Happ that you think is even remotely better than Cecil and what has Happ done to "deserve" a start? I don't think Cecil is a long term solution for this team, but anyone who thinks that Happ brings something above and beyond what Cecil provides has obviously not done a sliver of research because it would be painfully obvious that Happ has been worse in just about every category ... but why use logic and research to make a point?Last edited by mdc; Jul 30th, 2012 at 12:04 PM.

I only mentioned Romero because others have mentioned him and posted a funny story about Carmelo.
If Cecil isn't going to be part of the rotation in the future why not give Happ a shot and see what you want to do with him in the future.
Cecil hasn't been getting the run support but still. He's been fairly consistent not getting blown-out like Romero but he's also consistently giving up the 2-run or 3-run homer to righties. Cecil is REALLY good against lefties and REALLY bad agasint righties. Happ hasn't been good against either but it's more even, so I think Cecil's value as a lefty specialist reliever would help the team more than him mowing down lefties and giving up hits to righties.
Maybe send Romero down for 1 start. The pressure he's putting on himself must be insane. Pitching 1 game in a non-pressure situation may help him sort out his head.
Hoepfully, Morrow is back in a couple of weeks.
Morrow
Romero
Villanueva
Laffey (pitched better than Alvarez and Cecil so he sticks in the rotation)
Alvarez
Cecil
Happ
Maybe Cecil just gets moved to the pen anyways with Morrow coming back. Cecil lefty specialist and Happ long-relief?Last edited by Psubs; Jul 30th, 2012 at 01:29 PM.

psubs is tough skinned
i think everyone just wants to see what Happ has got.... we did pull off a big trade for the guy after all. We might as well use him...... players can improve, play better under different coaching staff. so it'll be interesting to see what Happ ends up pitching like late next year.

No worries. It's the internet. lol I'm happy with my life and don't let comments affect me negatively. I just brush them off as coming from people that have other frustrations in their lives this is an outlet. At least it's not boring.
Exactly. He was rookie of the year, what 3 years ago. Cecil also had one really good year, but his velocity is down and his ceiling is not high at all. Maybe Happ can find his second legs like Rasmus. I remember watching Rasmus able to bunt and I thought that trying him hitting 2nd may help ease the pressure of him driving in runs by doing other little things and boy has it ever. Same for Lawrie batting leadoff. People criticized saying he'd eventually be a #5 hitter. Without a Gose type leadoff guy Lawrie has filled in nicely like a Scutaro leadoff guy with above average speed.
2 days left for trades!!!

Some interest in Morneau. As others have said, if it's in the media A.A. probably isn't doing it but has probably made a call about it.
Chance to package Lind and his contract for Morneau's even bigger contract?
LMAO, the article calls him JUAN Encarnacion!!!

Generally he's treated alright, although there are a few that are brutally condescending to him.
Certainly doesn't help that he just bends over and grabs his ankles..

I can bend over and touch the ground with flat palms. No reason to riled up or angry at other posters. I take from their criticisms the tiny amount of new knowledge veiled by anger; such as how high of a prospect Marisnick is. Baseball has so many players to keep track of with their vast minor league system. It's so much easier with basketball. Though people there will bash me for my trade-proposals but when trades like Pau for Marc Gasol at the time and this summer's Joe Johnson for expiring contracts happen, they are no better than my ideas.
Anyways, would Lind, Sierra and McGuire be enough to take on the extra $9 million in salary for Morneau. He's hitting .260 for the season but .295 in July.Last edited by Psubs; Jul 30th, 2012 at 03:10 PM.
