Google Air Canada, our “national” airline is the worst out there… I had multiple delayed experiences with them and not weather reasons.

lol.. is this even a concern? If that's the case they'd be detaining way more then the current two. I have both a canadian and polish passport, being a dual citizen. Should I be flying with the polish passport just to be on the safe side? :)

1. Do the prices here include taxes?

2. Does one need get vaccinated when visiting Philippines?

3. What's better Philippines or Thailand? Looking at 2 to 3 weeks vacation, but don't like to be too rushed, wonder if that is enough time for both Thailand and Philippines?
1. Yes
2. Just like going to S. AMERICA, Thailand and phils, yes for Malaria but it is just an option but not mandatory at your own risk.
3. I was thinking of doing this so i can have the best of both worlds. As per deal posred above. Outbound to Bangkok, Inbound coming from Cebu. The airfare from Bangkok to Cebu should be really cheap. They are just 3-4 hours away.

If anyone wants to have an idea on how Cebu is, check out Sonny Side on Youtube under his channel Best Ever Food Review Show and just type in keyword Cebu.

I think he's nailed it. Having spent most of the summers of my childhood in Cebu, Sonny actually did some things some foreigners won't do (well, he always does).

There's also a recommended side trip to Bohol (day trip if you have the energy). Smaller island, crystal clear beaches

Biggest caveat here is the political climate between CAN-CN. It's not a good look right now and I'd be wary of the stop in the mainland. I'd probably do Cathay instead because it stops in a more "neutral" zone in HK.

I worked in Asia the past two years, Pudong is notorious for flight delays.

Flew to Cebu past 2 consecutive years with no delays. The transfer upon entry (from Vancouver), however, takes a while with huge lineups.

If you only have 2 to 3 weeks, spend it all at one or the other but don't split between them on that short of a trip. Both are great and require 4 weeks to see most of the good stuff on a non rushed schedule. Philippines requires more internal flights since it is all islands spread a fair distance apart whereas Thailand, you can reach most places easily by rail/bus/boat. Internal flights are cheap tho (Cebu Pacific in Philippines). I spent 4 weeks in Thailand and 2 in Philippines...def needed more time for Philippines. Both are great places to visit in my opinion.

this is common knowledge for everyone in Asia
go YouTube it I think there's a good video explaining why air travel in China is constantly delayed. it has to do with the proliferation of airlines and limited flight corridors for commercial flights (most of China's airspace is controlled by ccp/military). so it only takes one flight to be delayed to cause a cascading effect across the board.

I flew Toronto Shanghai Hong Kong last year and my flight was delayed by 8 hrs upon arriving in Shanghai from toronto.

the next week I flew Shanghai to shenzhen and again was delayed by 8 hrs.

it would've been faster to take the high speed rail which takes 5 hrs.

your international flight might be slightly better since they do give priority to non chinese airlines.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, do not fly with Chinese Eastern. It's all good IF everything is on time and there are no issues, but as soon as you need help or late flights or refunds or rescheduling , they are the worst ! I would personally never fly with them again even if they offered me a free flight. Had a terrible experience last year with them.

Google Chinese Eastern Airline reviews and you will see what I mean.
I know someone who liked them just because he could go to Shanghai for close to 6 days without a visa by routing YYC-LAX-PVG-YVR-YYC to use the Chinese transit without visa (and for a cheap price, $900)
If you're aware of other carriers that allow something like this, do let me know.

Boracay is dumpster with overpriced restaurants IMO.. Last time they tried to charge me $100 USD for tiny lobster tail, I didn't even bother to haggle and just walked away... local non-touristy town sells them for about $10 in comparison..
