I don't see anything cheaper from Toronto. I wouldn't be surprised if Air Transat puts there flight prices down a bit, although I could be wrong about that.
If you are willing to leave from Buffalo, I am seeing some dates as low as $650. Although some of these low prices involve multiple connections.

I would probably wait a bit for a lower price before I book. I flew Air Canada last August YYZ-DUB and it was around $900 roundtrip. Air Transat at the time I booked (I booked ~2 months in advance, so sometime in June) was less than $100 cheaper, but a few weeks later, the price dropped to the mid-600s. Sure, airfares fluctuate from year to year, but seeing as April isn't exactly high season, I'd think cheaper prices would be available. Keeping an eye out on the Transat and AC websites for promotions/websaver deals would probably get you a cheaper price.

Could fly Sunwing to London then Ryan to Dublin. You'd end up doing the same thing on the way back. If you can book early with Ryan the flights can be dirt cheap.

looks like the cheapest i can find is flying through canadian affair who use air transat. although we have to go to london gatwick so we can fly on the day we want. no problem though we'll train it to manchester and fly ryan to dublin so we get a bit more sightseeing in. so toronto > london gatwick & dublin > toronto for $1,570. from searching the web apparently its worth calling the london canadian affair office to book because some have gotten even cheaper fares.
i also tried to use 5500 airmiles to book this trip but it is such a waste as the price would have still been over $800 each due to the airlines they partner with. kinda sucks.
