Toronto Islands

Yes we all know it's closed. But is it off-limits? Or can anyone just go there if they can find a way. i.e. water taxi, rent a canoe.

You can still take a water taxi. Say that you have a reservation at The Island Cafe or you are visiting an islander.

What's open right now on the Toronto Islands
http://www.blogto.com/city/2017/07/open ... mmer-2017/
The Toronto Island Park has been closed due to flooding for a couple of months now, leaving many beach lovers stranded until at least July 31.

While some brave folks are venturing to the Islands to visit thanks to water taxis, the popular understanding is that the Islands are completely closed to the public until further notice. This is false.

The Ward's Island ferry is still operating every day, and while it's mainly for staff and locals, if you're taking the ferry to visit a specific business, you're more than welcome to float on over.

Crazy. I definitely want to check it out. However, I just read that there are West Nile mosquitoes there now.

You can get to Centre Island by telling the ticket seller you have lunch reservations and taking a ferry to Ward's island. My friends and I did that last weekend and it was kind of fun visiting the eerily empty island. The washrooms were closed though.

The water levels were definitely high at some points but the paths were pretty much clear. Plenty of room for picnics.

Toronto islands recovering from the flood
This is the first holiday long weekend that the Toronto islands have been open this season. Ginella Massa with visitors enjoying the parks and the measures some businesses have had to take to stay afloat.

Anyone go to Centre Island this year?
Were there long lineups?
How is the Island looking? Is most stuff operating at full capacity now?

If the climate change thing is going to cause floods of centre island to become more frequent then some of these businesses will likely have to shut down.

Went last weekend and the ferry was very busy and you had to wait in line for 30 mins just to pay (you can buy your ticket online to speed things up). Once there, it was very crowded at the amusement park and beach. It's pretty much full capacity last weekend. Not sure about this weekend.

The Toronto Islands are finally getting the summer they never had
After a summer of floods, cold temperatures, and terrible weather, a series of warmer weeks (and a sweltering weekend) are getting people out of the city and flocking to the Toronto Islands.
