Toronto to Italy - $586-$635 (roundtrip total)

With all the Italian-Canadians living in Toronto, here's a great price to visit the old-country.

Air Transat just cut the price of their June 1 to 9 flight from Toronto to Lamezia Terme (Calabria), Italy down to $605 roundtrip after tax.
You can also book June 1 to 16 for $635 total after tax.

You can also do Toronto to Venice for $586; try May 6-14.

Great time to visit at a price that's at least $200-300 less than elsewhere.

Lamezia Terme airport is THE WORST airport......... EVER

Even the flight to Lamezia Terme was annoying... even the flight attendants said it is the worst assignment...

TWO HOURS on the tarmac waiting to get IN to the airport upon arrival... the airport was closed. WTF

All processing was manual, and trust me, Europeans TAKE.......... THEIR............ TIME

good luck. Best part of Italy, but annoying getting there, and leaving from there.

I've been to Rome a few and have never had a problem. I don't look 'Italian' per se, so might (?) be a target. But I always watch my belongings especially in bigger cities when travelling.

Rome is a GREAT city to explore as a traveller and the food is wonderful.

P.S. V Good prices, thanks OP. V Good time to travel to Italy also.
It used to be only death and taxes were inevitable. Now, of course, there's shipping and handling, too.

I'm looking at deals to Rome. Not as cheap as the onces to Venice and Calabria...

So far for searches from start of May to mid June are turning up around $840+ (Taxes+fees included)

I should have heeded your warning more!
Italy was great, but you were right, what a horrible airport, and so cutoff from the rest of the country.
I was in Puglia/Foggia for my trip, which is very close to Calabria, but getting there/back proved a nightmare.
