It could very well have been a marketing company regarding the Police Retirees Fund. They sell Circus Tickets for Garden Bros. and the proceeds are donated to them. It is legit![]()

Toronto Police called my house
Hey,
Did you guys get a phone call from the Toronto Police? They asked me to make a small donation for something happening this month (fund-raising). I got really nervous and I said sorry i am not going to donate any $.
Just wondering if the Toronto Police actually does these kind of services to raise money? Or did you receive a similar call.

I think we received one of those calls a while back when I was in Kingston. Not here in Toronto though since we're unlisted so they're probably going through the phone book.

I have received these calls numerous times.
My mom was so silly that she got suckered into making a small donation. No idea if they are legit but they have never stopped calling since.
Not only that, but we now have many, many telemarketers calling us. Now my mom regrets ever making the donation.
So beware !!!

How did you know it was the Toronto Police?
Once the Toronto Police called my house to tell me to go to the football game they were playing(Police).
But not for donations._______________

Just to be sure, you'd better flush your stash.

Municipalities do this from time to time, it's usually a police officer donating their time to help raise funds for a program intended to reduce crime (teen center, recreation camp, etc.)_______________

I thought they couldn't canvass for donations?
That said, thanks for your money._______________

I've been called by the Toronto Police Association for a donation but refused. They haven't called back since (~2 years ago).

It's not actual cops calling around for donations, it's some third party agency that has the rights to that specific contract.

They call me quite often. And I always tell them I'll donate if they cancel my parking ticket.
