Well, you had to do security because it was an international destination to US. In his case, he clears US customs in Canada so there will be no need to go through security. If it is UA connection to UA/ANA, you *can* make that connection provided there are no delays. I would not do an international destination layover in ORD without at least 3hrs or a Nexus card.
Very true I misread the direction of travel. Agree with your 3 hour suggestion though for O'hare. It's the same advice I heard from everyone when booking a trip with a Chicago connection.

Booked my flight, had 59 mins to make connection in ohare..
They've since changed it to 42 mins - how screwed am i?
Forgot to mention.. depending on your flight, it will be a loooong wait for the next one. Be prepared to stay overnight and maybe get lounge passes

Called travel agent - my terminal has been updated now too.
So, still 42 minutes to make it, but arrival and departure are both in Terminal 1. Thats something, at least.

I dont have to go through any additional Japanese Security right? trying to think back to my last trip and pretty sure I didnt have to.

On the way home I have 2hr 55m currently to get through us customs at Terminal 5 o'hare and make my connection, so not too worried here.

lol... just getting you prepped. The UA lounge is nice.. has a shower and everything. However, they don't open at night.

You won't have to do any security once you land. Just make sure everything on you is packed tightly and run.

Thanks for the pointers. I do have Google Flight alerts but yea they never alert me for these excellent prices. I would have jumped on that $640 deal for direct ANA. They are the best airline I have flown and there have been plenty (20+ trips to Japan). Hopefully will see some price drops in the next few months.
New deal just got posted for YVR - HND!
