I don't think a upconvert DVD player worths that much. At that price you can almost buy a upconvert DVD recorder

Toshiba DVD with HDMI & DIVX @ HBC $129.99 less 15%
I went to the HBC @ Erin Mills Town Centre and scored the Acer 32" LCD deal
. I also picked up a Toshiba SD 4990 DVD player. It upconverts and plays DIVX for $129.99 less 15% for Boxing Week. Better than FS or BB.
Anyone have any experience with the Toshiba? epinions users complained about freezing.

That dvd player...
should be around 100 on sale... I think I've seen it for 80 before, but I can't be 100% sure, it may have been the sd4980

You could pay $20 more for the DVD Recorder with DiVX & HDMI from BB. It also up-converts.

Oh well...
I can't complain about $10 after the smoking hot deal I got on the Acer 32" from them. I'm more concerned that it is a wonky DVD player.

Almost better to buy an Oppo 970 at $169 and have the security of the best customer support in the industry and proven reliability. It just won Budget Component of the Year from The Absolute Sound.

for under 50 bucks you can get a RCA Upconverting HDMI Divx DVD with a built in card reader at RCSS. That actually looks really good. Probably very comparable quality to an Oppo 970 for 1/3 the price.
