Did they already sent the adjuster to look at the car?
If yes, then they should know by this time whether its total loss or not.
If no, then how they know you have to bear 50% of bumper damage.
Was the prior damage to bumper is equal in size to current damage?
Why you do not want car to be total loss?

Total Loss / Bumper Damage - Car Insurance question
Guys... This is my situation:
I was recently involved in a "100% not at fault" accident and I have third party insurance. The driver side front door, mirror, fender, and front bumper were damaged. The front bumper was already cracked/damaged before the accident on the passenger side. The insurance company said there are two options:
1. They will do a full repair, but I have to pay 50% of the bumper repair costs as it was already damaged on the other side.
2. They will check whether it is a "total loss" by sending a damage analyst or someone, as it is a old car.
My question is, for both the above mentioned options, can I tell/ask the insurance company to not to consider/repair the damage to the bumper, but only the other damages? The claim agent does not want to give a straight answer. I do not want the bumper to be repaired but only the other parts, because:
1. I do not want to pay 50% of the bumper repair costs.
2. I do not want the car to be a total loss and hence removing the bumper repairs will help reduce the total repair costs.
So, basically I want to know whether I can choose (via accident insurance claim) to repair only a certain part of the car out of various damaged parts?_______________

Yes. You should be able to just get them to repair the damaged parts as you are not at fault.
Also I can understand that you don't want the car to be a total loss since you can only get so much from it and then you have to get another one.
Anyhow you don't have to agree to the terms given by the insurance company._______________
