triple monitor setups softTH or TH2go or EyeFinity?
Wondering if anyone out there is running a 4870x2 with softTH? What would be the minimal 2nd card that I should get as I didn't want to spend too much as I was thinking of getting a 5870x2 down the road ..way down. I plopped a bundle when the 4870x2 first came out. I was wanting to buy the matrox TH2go until I read about the ATI EyeFinity for the 5xxx series that I hear will be delayed. So looks like that will be the route in the near future, but in the meantime, I need my triple monitor fix! I guess that will mean softTH. Can anyone direct me as to how to setup etc as I have read for hours but am now totally confused as so much stuff is said and I don't know what is correct and not correct. ie use the 4870x2 to run the primary monitor only and some guy said to run a second 4870x2 (which will be a total waste of $$ imo for a 3rd screen) .. SO I wanted to know what is the min card I can go with. Again setup hoew to setup...run 4870x2 as CF and the 3rd card in non CF or all in non Cf via softTH (not sure if possible). Also if anyone has a triple monitor setup please post

What are you looking at doing with the 3 monitor setup? Gaming? Or just general desktop use?
Also the 5800 series of cards are out already although Sold out mostly everywhere. Within a week or two the 5850 and 5870 should be widely on sale and you can do triple monitors from them.

I forgot to mention I was going to use it for gaming primarily. I saw infonec had a 58xx series for sale....going to wait as I bought the 4870x2 for close to $700 when it first came out...it has dropped to a fraction of the cost today
I've decided I'll forget about being a early adopter of the lastest and greatest for now. Always end up getting screwed! They wasn't many good games on the PC for a while and now they are starting to pop up. This is another reason I'll hold off for now. Just looking to have a triple monitor setup for racing games exclusively. Hope Dirt 2 has triple monitor support.

The great thing about Eyefinity is that it doesn't need actual "support", the system already works on 100+ games/apps and AMD hadn't even told the developers about this yet!
I've seen Dirt 2 run on Eyefinity and I'll tell you it's really nice although FPS games are were you get the real advantage.
But either way if you are looking for gaming on three monitors then you should really look at 5000 series. The 5850 will be out soon, performance is expected to be better than GTX285 and only at $259 U.S. so it's a pretty good deal and you're getting the Eyefinity support on it as well.
