True... but that's not saying much: Kim Campbell did a better job as PM than Harper! Face With Stuck-out Tongue And Tightly-closed Eyes

Let's face it: I never thought I'd live to see a worse PM than Mulroney... then we had 9 years of Canada going backwards with the fake economist!

what did Harper do well? he pretty much destroyed our economy. Unless you guys are going to blame the Liberal party before him for that, which you really can't considering how long Harper was in office for.

You believe what you want . I find people that believe JT is good leader . There is no point in discussion . The same can be said for most Lieberal and Democrat supporters .

Why is there no point in discussion? Show your evidence and prove that "Lieberals" (really immature btw) are as bad as you are pretending they are... But don't ignore your own party's faults while you're at it.

Or do you only look at news reports and read articles that make Liberals and Democrats look bad and everything else isn't real?

what it means is Conservatives are not Canadians.

What surprises me is people who blame Harper convincingly ignores that this mess was due to Liberals Prime Minsters. One who brought home the terrorist father from Pakistan Jail.

what's a lie?, Harper destroyed our economy... Our dollar tanked under his watch and continued to tank early into Trudeau's term. That's a FACT.

Our unemployment rate just reached the highest it's been since 2007 finally. It was all over the news this morning.

#1 is false.
CAD/US Dollar

Maintained a pretty steady valuation for most of his term, barring the massive recession in 2008, until 2014 when oil crashed and therefore our dollar went with it. It's no coincidence that as oil prices stabilized and increased, so did the strength of our dollar. Don't conflate this with anything negative Harper did. Our dollar is massively dependent on the prices of our natural resources, and oil is the big one.

You could probably make a pretty good case for oil being the single largest driver of our US dollar exchange.

PS. Oh look, GDP increased during his entire term and dropped when oil crashed.
Canada GDP history

What exactly did Harper do wrong with our economy again?

PPS. Here's more.
During Harper's tenure, Canada had budgetary surpluses from 2006 to 2008 of $13.8 and 9.6 billion respectively. Following the 2008 financial crisis, Canada ran deficits from 2009-2013. The deficit was $55.6 billion in 2009 and was gradually lowered to $5.2 billion in 2013. In 2014, the federal budget was balanced with a surplus of $1.9 billion.[135] For the first 11 months of 2015, the federal government was on track for a $7.5 billion surplus. Following the 2015 federal election and a change in government, the 2015 fiscal year ended in a $1 billion deficit instead.[136] In 2010, Canada had the lowest debt-to-GDP ratio in the G7 economies.[137] The Economist magazine stated that Canada had come out the recession stronger than any other rich country in the G7.
Harper had a pretty bad recession to deal with, whereas Junior Trudeau does not. Harper whittled down the deficits throughout the years following the recession, while Trudeau plans to explode out the deficit throughout the near future with zero real justification for doing so.

I don't get all the Harper hate. Our economy was doing great under him.

+10000000

Lets ask the conservatives. Except for TFSA. What did Harper do in his 10 years?.

Conservatives ran the country for almost a decade and the only thing they have to show is TFSA. That is it.

We had 2 recession and record breaking deficits under them. Did he even build anything for canadians while charging money to the credit card?.

He also failed on social issues. The guy made Canada look bad worldwide.

Even WW2 vets called them out. Ambushed his boy Fantino.

You're not going to get anywhere with this kind of reasoned response in this crowd of Liberal leaning socialists, Larry. They're not interested in facts, just blind adoration for PM Sunny Ways who is well on his way to adding over $100 billion to our debt in only four years and with no sign of a balanced budget on his party's own projections until the decade of the 2050s.
