This laptop was on sale in Sept 2013 for $420. Where is The Source replenishing their stock of display models when the display models were already being cleared out in Sept 2013?

This laptop was made almost 3 years ago (2011), so obviously there's not going to be any usb 3.0 ports. It's not really a bad price, but nothing exceptional, probably a good laptop for your parents, but only if they have very good eyesight.

If you can find a sub-1000$ 1080p laptop, let me know, I checked HP, Dell, Toshiba, none seems to offer anything above ~1366x768 for less than 1000$.

I don't think it's that bad if you are looking for something a tad better than a netbook without sacrificing half the batter life.

I heard these have a noise issue. Research before buying.

Well my Asus zenbook prime was on sale and ended up costing $750 before tax and has 1080p.. but yea.. as Jack said above, 1080p on 13" is a bit small for my comfort..

when the source site mass updated yesterday afternoon I was actually thinking about this unit, but I grabbed another $199 ao756 celeron 1.4 ghz 11.6" model (silver this time) for my parent's office, for presentations, mobile use, etc. right now they're using that crappy c70 I go them for christmas, but the business will pay for this one, and the c70 will get passed down to someone else, as these intel ones are 3x-4x faster, close to a full-sized laptop. so glad to get a silver one too!

wow, what's the full resolution on that? I have great eyes, but a 13.3" at 1440x900 is perfect for me. couldn't imagine a 1920 x 1080 like on the dell xps. a 1680x1050 might be the perfect resolution for a 13.3" ultrabook, but that's tough (impossible?) to find.

really? Macbook Pro 13" had retina screen already. It's higher than 1080P.

and what's a mac book pro + retina run you now? $1400-$2000? And those are special beasts, far superior to a standard tft screen on a non-apple laptop.

we're talking about a $399 ultrabook, so naturally, you're not going to get $2K of hardware inside.

I also don't think it's not such a great deal, but not because it doesn't have a retina screen at $399

Screen: 13.3" widescreen, resolution 1920 x 1080 FULLHD; it is a lot of strain on the eyes so i did put it at 1440x900 expecially if i use it to type and do work.. and no I'm not old.. ahahah

Which one was this? I'd be interested if still available.

yeah, there is a big difference between using a laptop for surfing, media, etc. purposes and then actually typing in code or excel data. doing some of my spreadsheets or programs would cause undo strain and a higher potential for errors at 1920 on a 13.3.

Was is it a refurb unit? I'm hesitating between the ux32vd and the ux31A

No, mine was a brand new one; I got lucky that it dropped to $750 for some one day deal

As for a quick look at your 2 asus models (yea we're veering off topic here now...), ux31A has a ssd and ux32vd does not (according to amazon.com specs). That's a deal breaker for me in an ultrabook.

You are correct. But how much an Ultrabook laptop computer cost when it came out to market? Around 800 or more.
