TSCC Circuit Breaker: Refurb Mosquito R/C helicopter - $24.51

Thought this looked like a good deal as FutureShop is selling Mosquitos for $70 and even DealExtreme are selling them for $33 USD. Not sure what refurbished means for this product though, so caveat emptor.

My guess would mean refurb. would mean an entire new mosquito body, whereas the charger may be a used/refurb. one.

Anyone else know what a refurb. would mean in this case?

Looks like a good deal, OP. Make sure you guys test it out right away in case it is defective, but it should be fine.

You mean there are refurbs for these type of toys? Thats amazing. I thought they would just throw them out because it would cost more to repair them.

My brother picked one up for my dad at Christmas from Futureshop (different colours, so I don't know if it would be exactly the same or not), and it took a few falls from ceiling height thanks to amateur pilots. I found it quite difficult to control; up and down is not too difficult, but more than that and I wasn't doing so well, but it may just take some getting used to as a friend who has other R/C helicopters had no problems flying it around people's heads.

I've been debating getting one from DX for awhile, but since TSCC has easier returns I'm going to take a chance on this refurb.

The deal from DX comes with batteries, but this is "Requires one 9V battery for the transmitter and six C batteries for the charger, all sold separately".

However assuming that this is a better brand than the one DX has, i guess it should be a good deal.

umm batteries... :S neat, but screw that. In this day and age rechargeable batteries are the only way to go. (Nickle metal hydride, nickle cadmium, lithium ion ftw)

Depends which one you're looking at. This one for $35 needs the same six C cells and a 9V, while this one for $32.50 comes with an A/C adapter, negating the need for batteries (other than in the remote), and this one for $31 is confusing as says it includes a 9V but shows some AA batteries next to the remote with "not included" on them and uses a 220V adaptor.

Don't count on easy returns ... I post-XMas shopped at a # of TSCC's, they were putting up major resistance to customers trying to return them, pointing to user breakage as the cause, therefore not returnable. Therein lies the problem, they are unbelieveably fragile. I bought this one, and it survived 2 flights. The copter's connector to the charger/remote is incredibly poor and doesn't firmly mate, but worse is the far more fragile power switch, which eventually broke. Flight control is terrible, as it continously rotates, and was not resolvable by the remote's dial adjustment. To top things off, the receipt eventually made it's way into the XMas wrapping trash, and I thus have a $40 piece of junk. I would not recommend these to anyone, and would be hardpressed to pay $5 for it, given it's unlikely to last you more than a few flights. Note all the above will only be exacerbated in the hands of a 8+ year-old. Although fun, I would rather pay double or more, for something without any of the mentioned issues. These really don't even have a place in a dollar store, IMHO: they sell more qualitative stuff in general. Here's the pic of my copter:

I noticed these too when I logged into my gcr . ca account this morning and say it listed as the Circuit Breaker. My neighbors lasted a few days (from princess auto). Wonder if these are any better?
