TV Series: The River (ABC/CTV)
Anyone else catch the premier of The River last night?
IMDB
Wikipedia
I have to say that I liked it, it had the feel of some TV series that I liked before, like Supernatural and X-Files.
At first I thought it would be more like Lost, but was happy to see that it wasn't so much.
I understand and appreciate the first person camera effect, however I did find it a little too shaky at times.
Also found some situations a bit predictable, which was one thing I didn't like about supernatural, (Ex. from supernatural: Oh, my flashlight stopped working, how weird).
Still, overall a good show and I'd watch it again!Last edited by joeyr; Feb 8th, 2012 at 12:04 PM.

I missed two episodes already? Hope they rerun them this weekend for those of us who missed them. Then again, if it's on Tuesday night my schedule is already full. CBS all the way. Put it on Wednesday instead - I didn't have a need to watch TV at all tonight, as nothing's caught my attention, other than the news.

Manchester United - winners of the English league for an all-time record 19 times. A mere 2 minutes away from making it No. 20 this season.
Champs for a reason. We play the FULL season. Sadly this season City got 2 minutes extra.

I just watched this show last night on my shift. The thing I hate most about the show it's got this Blair Witch/Paranormal Activity camera POV that I never did like it horror.
The first episode was alright with the whole ghost thing but it wasn't enough for me to say it was a good show.
Then I watched the second episode which sent chills down my spine. That monkey with the doll head made me shake, then the doll tree with eyes opening. This show has some potential.

Def alive, the security dude made reference to 'the source' so I'd assume he's got something to do with that as well.

Watched the most recent episodes finally, decent concepts and some chilling parts on both, but I have to say, episode 2 was still my favorite. Mind you, for me just about anything to do with kids (dolls, clowns, etc) gets to me more than mysterious blindness or ghost ships.

That ghostship episode was extremely weak. Easily the worst out of the 5.

I think the ghostship ep was all about providing some backdrop, some closure, and some intelligence.
One thing I like to date is you have no idea what is going to happen in each episode - "the river" is their oyster and the writers are making the most of it. There is still a ton of room for character development remaining - every character still has some maneuver room for growth and development in unexpected directions. The lack of black and white characters is a treat.
Overall really, really liking this series. There is very little like it on the reg networks, and quite frankly, I am surprised it did not show up on AMC - would have made a great one-two punch with The Walking Dead.
Anyways, its on my must watch weekly list. I was going to start a thread for the show, but now that I found one, I am going to contribute. Time to watch last night's ep, and then contribute some commentary later._______________

Ep 6 was easily the best. Capt Pike sure is a damn good actor. I really look forward to more River, and the new Star Trek movie out next year.

I agree that this episode was excellent. I have like all of them really, even the ghost ship ep which some seem to dislike - the whole turn at the end when she found out her Father was dead was all totally unexpected.
The only thing I found bothersome about this week was this camp/town - like it would not have been on the map? But I guess some explanations will be forthcoming next week._______________
