Tx-sr607b & kht1005.2 - 999$
Hurry up, the deal is valid until november 17th.
http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=46533&promoid=1217
That's a 800$ rebate off the regular bundle price of 1799$
The website says it's backorder but the individual parts are in stock, so who knows when it will actually ship...

Would be interested in the Onkyo, but not the speaker set...

I have that reciever, its not too shabby.
The 6 hdmi inputs (5 in the back, 1 in the front) puts it in a league of its own

I also have this reciever. It's very decent for an entry level unit but when it switches sources it clicks very loudly. My cable has audio dropout every once in a while and it sounds like someone is making popcorn in the living room lol.
Thats about my only gripe. I also only paid $400 new, so I can't really complain.

I have a Onkyo SR605 and have been having some HDMI issues with it (signal keeps getting lost from my HTPC). Not sure if it`s my HTPC or my Onkyo, or both. Signal from my PS3 works well. Also have the KEF 2005 speakers, and for what I paid, they`re amazing.
This deal is ok, considering I got my Onkyo for $400 a couple of years ago, and my speakers from NCIX were $599 + a free DVD player that I sold for $60.
I'm looking to upgrade my receiver (the SR605 only has two HDMI inputs), so tempted to buy this, and then use the speakers for the bedroom. Will probably resist though until I can find the receiver standalone.

May I know where did you guys get that receiver for $400? It is selling for $400 in the states. The cheapest CDN price is around $650.
Any problems with HDMI upscaling?

i have a sr805 and it keeps losing sinal from my htpc also.. i wonder if its a common onkyo issue. its annoying since you have to reboot your computer from a black monitor screen... it also don;t display the boot up info (can not select safemode or see bios) so the monitor stay black until windows loads up... besides some hdmi handshaking and heat issues, its the best bang for the buck..
i wonder if onkyo addressed these issues on the newer models

Meaning you like it...
I would prefer a 706, but the price difference is very huge!

Did you really pay the $400 you're saying here? The best I saw was $600CAD shipped. Maybe you're talking about an older model.

Upscaling on this model, I read, is not really spectacular. But on some forums I read that upscaling is best let to the source (DVD player) or the destination (TV).

i paid 379 US for it 3 or 4 months ago. It's a great receiver for the price. This receiver has only been around for 6 months or so.

That is something I do not understand: the canadian dollar is around 0.95USD those days, and the price on components are almost 20% higher...
But if you got it at $379, that was a killing deal!

No doubt.. I looked around online and Amazon has had it just over 400 US, as well as some of there resellers.
I waited so long for it to go on sale on Canada. Cheapest I've seen it is 599 from both ncix and electronicsforless.ca. I tried to order it from the US, but the shipping is so insane, and you risk duty/brokerage. I ended up buying it for 599. Quite please with it so far. I love that I can do audio over hdmi now, less cables, full uncompressed audio from the ps3, much better then the sony it replaced.

For the record, the bundle was shipped within two days, so they do have stocks.
Best of all, the shipping was only 30$
Also, I have a tx-sr606 connected to a HTPC (hdmi), Bell HD (hdmi), Oppo Bd player (hdmi) and Wii (component) and everything is working great.
If you are losing the connection from your HTPC you might want to review the power saving options...
