Typing in chinese in English OS

I did a quick search and I couldn't find a thread specifically addressing my issue here.

basically a friend of mine wants to be able to type chinese (for IE and word) thing is she doesnt wanna get XP in chinese, and go thru the hassle of reformating and back-uping.

is there a way of configuring IE and Word (or XP in general if neccessary) to be able to type chinese? I think something like NJstar chinese is a last resort (again she wants to avoid buying anything).

Well I know I can switch between QWERTY and Dvroak, so Chinese should be no problem.

Just enable the new keyboard layout using the region settings option in the control panel.

In Language Bar settings, Add Chinese (PRC) for Simplified Chinese, Chinese (Taiwan) for Traditional Chinese. You can switch on the fly between English-Trad-Simp, just set the key settings. This is for pinyin, but XP has to have the Asian fonts installed options on. You can type the Chinese anywhere, not just Word or IE too.

Is it just me or Chinese fonts always appear smaller than English fonts? Granted, Chinese characters have more strokes than a English character. How can I increase the size of Chinese fonts without increasing the size of the English characters? I hope I'm making some sense here.

They are exactly the same size to me. Maybe the Chinese letters dont support TureType, or whatever its called?

I guess the problem isn't all that bad. I can still read it, but with more difficulties.
