I wouldn;t say pride is dying because they are trying to do business with the WWE. Pride is HUGE in japan and does well everywhere else outside of North America. Pride has a better talent pool then the UFC. Pride has fighters from all over the world. UFC has mainly American fighters (north, central and south). In the UFC there are like 5, if there are 5, real challengers in every weight class. In Pride, the list will go on for real contenders for the belt of every weight class. With the depth and talent of fighters that Pride has, I don't see them as very desperate. They are just trying to tap into the american market but the UFC has a strong grip on it's fans here that it makes Pride look bad here.
The business venture with the WWE is not surprising to me because you must remember that wrestling in japan is huge and is not looked down upon like it is here in North America.

UFC is better than Pride. Pride is desperate and here is proof of why.
Earlier today, WWE officials and members of the group PRIDE had a meeting at WWE global headquarters in Stamford, Conn. The meeting focused on the possibility of the two groups doing some form of business together in the future.
World Wrestling Entertainment is a multimedia conglomerate with a presence in films, music, and sports-entertainment around the world. Known for its unique brand of competition, PRIDE is a major championship mixed martial arts organization based in Japan

Pride is a sinking ship everyone. It's only a matter of time before the organization folds the fighters jump ship to UFC.

If the ultimate goal for Pride is to get a primetime US network slot then this is their only way of doing that. Remember that Dream Stage Entertainment (DSE) which owns Pride in Japan is a partly involved in wrestling in Japan. For Pride and WWE, the UFC is their main competition. Pride is trying to break into the US market and WWE is losing business to the UFC so there is some logic to promoting each other. Pride isn't gonna fold anytime soon due to imminent TV deals. Plus Dana White is gonna have the same mentality as Vince McMahon when it comes to bringing in outside talent. Like WWE bringing in ECW/TNA stars and burying them into the ground. The only difference is that Dana knows that his precious will get slaughtered.
On the plus side if there is a possibility for us north americans to watch Pride on TV all the time then it sounds interesting and massive exposure. On the downside the pro wrestling stigma tie ins can be harmful for the business.

I'd love to see a pride match or two on WWE. It would be a hell of a lot better than the stupid chick matches.
However I assume they just want WWE to promote Pride in a different fashion. I can't possibly imagine any way for Pride matches to actually take place at WWE event but it would be kind of cool to throw in every now and again._______________

I didn't know that. I hope they do get a new contract with another station. Would be a shame if they did fold. I sincerely believe that they have better fighters and an overall better product than the UFC. Don't get me wrong, I am HUGE fan of the UFC, but seeing as these 2 are the only mma organizations worth watching, losing one can hurt the sport more than help. Through competition comes a better product.

hmm so, since pride is in a difficult financial situation, that makes ufc better than than pride? sounds more like you are a "desperate" ufc fan who is trying to tell himself and others that ufc is better.
remember is not the finances of a company that make it a better product, its their pool of fighters and the fights that they have that make it a better.
as for them dealing with the wwe, the wwe is pretty good at marketing their product and thats exactly what pride needs to get established in the states. it doesnt mention anything about pride brining in the gimmick elements to their shows like ufc has been doing as of late.
nice try though...

I'm not gonna say anything about speculations on financial difficulties and he-said, she-said crap.... The fact is that PRIDE keeps things constantly interesting, with better TALENT, production, and matchups.
Constantly when I'm watching UFC events I always get the feeling like most of the matches are just filler and your always waiting for the end of the night to see the one or two good matchups, which are the main events.
And personally I really liked the PRIDE North American debut a few weeks ago, and I had a ton of people over (like tonight) to watch it and we all agreed. PRIDE keeps things interesting by providing entertaining matchups.. It was one awesome matchup after another for the PRIDE USA debut. Also, I think that Fedor & Cro-Cop could probably whoop anyone in the UFC's ass..
I like ALL forms of MMA, from UFC to PRIDE to KING OF THE CAGE to anything I can get my hands on.. Chuck Liddell is one of my all-time favorites and he's a UFC fighter, but no matter what, I am not a fan of what UFC and Dana White is doing to the MMA community.. Dana White is trying to kick PRIDE and BOXING while they are down, and start a type of monopoly on fighting events here in North America. Anyone that remembers the original UFC days, before Dana White, it was all about promoting the sport and doing anything they could to better it and have the people better understand it..
just a rant from someone who really likes martial arts events and watches them ALL the time; i NEVER miss them, and I will say that my vote DEFINITELY goes to PRIDE for keeping the sport honorable_______________

Like most MMA fans, the news of WWE in talks with Pride scares me because we're afraid we'll lose the Pride we all love so much. When you think about it though, I don't think we have to worry. The best Pride fights will still take place in japan. It'll be silly of Pride to abandon their core audience. I don't think Pride will risk the quality of fights just to gain traction in the US.
