United Airlines to Brazil would be awesome. thats like a two for one deal

Get beat up on the way there and get robbed once you arrive in Brazil

jokes aside, I seriously didn't know Brazil was so dangerous until I saw videos from 2016 Olympics..

It's cheap because many are traveling only one way...

A visa is required for entry to Brazil. How much are they now?

Lol at all the fears. I went to Rio last summer and it was fine. United is also my favourite airline to fly economy with and they've made many service improvements recently

I paid about $125 for my visa when I applied in person at the consulate this past August.

There are also tons of availability outside summer month Jan- December on Air Canada for $650-660 direct.

Beautiful country and amazing rain forest.
But, you definitely should be extremely careful when you are in Brazil, especially in big cities like Rio and Sao Paulo - even in crowd touristy areas.
The hotel manager told me it was stupid of me walking along the crowded Copacabana beach full of people with my camera on a Sunday afternoon - the crowd wouldn't deter the criminals.
Then I almost got robbed two nights in a row after dinner walking back to my hotel which was only 1 block away on the best stretch of Ipanema beach.
I soon realized the security guards in front of hotel with AK47 weren't just for show...
