The University of Waterloo Thread
This thread is for all you non-engineers...
Engineers go here: http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/s...d.php?t=475465
I am a 4th year student in Science, I've worked as a recruitment officer going school-to-school and am pretty involved with campus life.
Ask/discuss any issues or questions you have about UW here...anything from academics, housing, student life -- whatever!

starting 2a CS. Btw does anyone know if cs241 is the same for CS, Software engineering students, and St.jerome students?
The only cs241 available for UW CS students is 830am Tuesday and Thursday, I doubt I can wake up...

You'll probably need to take the CS-specific CS241. You'd need to get an override from one of your advisors to take the other ones and I doubt they "I won't be able to wake up on time" excuse will fly.
In other news, I've managed to schedule my classes so the earliest one is at 11:30 AM. Woooo. Go go being in 4th year and having to take only 2 requisite classes per term, with the other 3 being electives (though 1 of them has to be chosen from a list of 3rd and 4th year CS courses)

I'm going to be on campus pretty early this year to start the bread-crumb trail to wlu. Hopefully, it will get rid of the damn geese.

I was wondering if the materials and assignments would be the same. So I would just go to those lectures even though I am not enrolled in them

Don't know. Easiest way would be just email the prof and ask.

2A Computer Science in fall.
I hope the CS 241 classes are the same because I have two schedules.
1. The UW schedule with all of my courses
2. MY schedule with the same courses but at more convenient times.
The reason I did this was because when registering for classes, I came across WAYYY too many unknown conflicts and I became very frustrated.. lol

Hey guys, I am considering attending Waterloo after I complete grade 12 this year and I had a question. How is the RESIDENCE life at waterloo party-wise? Many hot girls? Many parties, etc? Discuss.

If you decide to go to Waterloo live at the REV residence...no matter how much it compares to the other res's, this is where the parties are at...plus co-ed floors

Clearly it's too late for this years frosh as they've already been assigned rooms; however, V1 is good too ASSUMING you get a good house.. I had an amazing one and had the time of my life in first year. I know others have said that their houses were a lot more dull though... so I guess it's just luck of the draw. (My house was two floors of girls and one floor of guys... that was pretty fantastic considering the ratio in the general UW population!)
All first years I knew who were in MKV or UWP said it was very antisocial and everyone kind of kept to their own suites. I lived in both of the preceding during upper year and it was good then, but for first year you definitely want to be in a dorm type housing and not suites.
Of course, those not in the dorms probably got better marks than me in first year, but hey, you're only a frosh once... enjoy it.
