Unlocking a Note 3

Going on Holidays end of November and thinking of trying Roam Mobility while down in the U.S. I love my Note 3 and am looking at unlocking it. Anybody have anybody in the GTA that does this successfully for a descent price? Or, anybody know of anybody online that is relatively cheap but good?

Cheers

p.s. I am on Kit Kat

$20 to unlock, is that high? Stupid question: once unlocked do I have to do anything to the phone once I cross into the U.S. and do anything once I get back into Canada? I assume I have to do nothing at all?

You have a private message but to answer your question, no you don't. As long as the SIM fits the phone and the frequency is compatible the wireless carrier you're with then that's all you need once the phone is unlocked!

sent you a pm back...so obviously if I am on Rogers I have to go to Rogers and buy a blank SIM before I unlock, can't use my current? How can I confirm if the frequency is compatible with the phone before unlocking? Compatibility is also my issue if I go with somebody like Roam Mobility.

Nope you will need ANY foreign SIM that's active or non-active. So if your phone is locked to Rogers, you'll need a Telus, Koodo, Virgin, Bell, SIM in order for the phone to prompt the unlock code screen for you to punch in the code!

Roam Mobility uses T-Mobile if i recall correctly.. That requires 1700 MHz / 2100 MHz, i don't think the Rogers Note 3 supports that.

For the record, you should probably be more focused on the 1700MHz value, not 2100MHz. With that being said, AWS = 1700MHz so you should still be fine either way.

K great thanks guys.. If I decide on Roam Mobility as long as I can pick up a sim from another carrier here or in the states as long as I unlock before
