Spigen finally released their screen protector for the Pixel 2 XL but it looks identical to the other ones that only have adhesive around the edges.

Thoughts?

I only have the Pixel 1 XL, but the Spigen full-cover protector for it is excellent and use it with the Spigen rugged armour case - both have excellent fit and are seamless together. I accidentally ordered the non-full-cover one, and I don't know why they even make them, it only covers the digitized area of the screen. Don't know why anyone would want a protector like that.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

So I picked this up and just installed it. It's not curved (I thought it would be). The edges aren't flush with the phone.

I didn't realize this, but Google has a screen protector (?not available in Canada): https://store.google.com/us/product/bri ... s?hl=en-US

Bought a similar one for my OG pixel XL and I hated it. Absolutely hated it. There's no adhesive in the middle so it felt like the screen protector was floating on top of the screen. As a result, there's a decreased touch sensitivity and a hollow tapping sound when I tap the screen. There was also a visible rainbow effect. I would stay away from the Pixel 2 XL version.

Damn this is pretty disappointing, I'm just gonna forgo the screen protector at this point and stick with a case.

If you put your phone in your pocket, I can see there being a lot of dust/lint stuck to the edges of the screen protector.

There's always the option of the glass screen protectors that aren't full screen. Full coverage glass protectors can be more trouble than they're worth.

I don't see a problem with the former aside from being less aesthetically pleasing

That's what I'm waiting for. I had ordered the Intelliarmor intelliglass HD version for the Pixel 2 XL https://www.intelliarmor.com/shop-by-de ... ector.html . I'm fully aware that it won't cover the curved edges and that's fine. I just want a good TGSP that doesn't have the dot matrix effect and any rainbowing and intelliarmor TGSP had good reviews for the OG Pixel XL. Unfortunately they've been having trouble perfecting the product so they sent me their full screen TGSP in the meanwhile, which is similar to the Spigen one (https://www.intelliarmor.com/shop-by-de ... ector.html). Terrible product.. hate it also. I'm just using it as a stopgap until they can send me the one I ordered!

There's options for TGSP that isn't the full screen version and I think there are a few out there.

Seems like Whitestone Dome TGSP is the best out there right now: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078JR1HTN/re ... oAbZKRTWFW
Pricey though!!

Sounds like typical Intelliarmor. Their product is good..... after it goes through about fifty trials of customers complaining and returning. That's been the story with them for as long as I remember. I guess their game is to just keep doing exchanges for customers (as long as the customer pays the shipping), until the product is perfected. It's just weird.

I still have my 1st gen XL and the Spigen non full coverage protectors work fine

So the protector was interfering with the proximity sensor. When I placed a phone call the screen would turn off immediately and wouldn't turn back on until I pressed the power button. Chatted with Amazon and am getting a refund.

Only thing good about this fone is the camera. I played around with it. Really cheap feel. Did terrible in drop tests.

Well that's your opinion. Myself, I just went from an iPhone 7 to the Pixel 2, and it's a pretty solid step up. The camera is excellent, the screen is nice (especially compared to the 7), and battery life has been really good. It's quite snappy as well. I do miss iOS integration, such as iMessage between users, but other than that it's pretty good. I actually don't mind the bezels either, or at least care enough to be bothered by them.

1st off, to each their own. Most peeps agree android is more functional than CrApple. That's not a surprise. Every1 knows that. Open source vs. Proprietary o/s. Reason why apple is falling behind. Apple used to have the largest app store on the planet. Now google play/android is ahead by 600k apps (2.8 vs 2.2 mil apps). 2nd, I always say if Apple included all the jailbreak features it be pretty much ahead of android. And 3rd, hardware durability doesnt lie. Drop tests dont lie. Majority of android fones fail in that dept. Feels like a toy... IMO.
