From those two, I would select the DS3 because you don't seem to want to overclock.
Or you can take a look at my S3 that I'm selling for $80.

Upgrading PC need help plz
OK i think its time for me to upgrade from my athlon xp 1900+
Im trying to get the best/top of the line CPU+Motherboard so i can have a strong base to start from. At first i was going to get the AMD 5600+ now i have changed my mind to Intel E6750.
Now ive been looking through motherboards and its all very confusing I dont know if i need half the features some of the boards offer. Ive narrowed it down to two.
So my plan is
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Dual Core Processor = 217$
http://www.directcanada.com/products...ufacture=INTEL
AND
ASUS P5K ATX LGA775 P35 DDR2
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...S&promoid=1065
Or
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 ATX LGA775
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...5&promoid=1065
Which board would be best. Im also on a tight budget, i want the best value and this PC will be used for various activits including gaming and eventhough i dont know much about overclocking might want to OC in the future
any suggestions?Last edited by nomaan; Aug 9th, 2007 at 06:58 PM.

If both motherboard have the features you want, then I would pick ASUS P5K. It's newer and get supported longer than the DS3.

Asus P5N32-E Plus, BIOS 1502 / Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, 700/960
X-fi Extreme Music / Corsair HX520
Antec Solo, 2 92mm front fans, 1 120mm graphic card blow fan, 1 120mm back fan

P5K is current generation but Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 is one generation older ... The GA-P35 series is the one you want.

There are 3 version of Gigabytes DS3, in order to support E6750, I think you need the version 3 of the Gigabytes board. Most of the newer board only support 1 IDE channel because of the new Intel chipset. If you want 2 IDE channel, then your best would go with the Nvidia chipset instead.
