meh I would do it more so as a collector, value wise, you will probabley never get close to beckett value.
I have a tonne of rookie cards from the 70's, 80's and 90's
I will probabley have to wait until I am 60 to get a very good return on them and who knows how the business will be like then.

Upper Deck Cards - Is This A Good Deal?
Here's the thing ...
Shoppers Drug Mart is selling an Upper Deck entire pack/case of cards. The regular "20 Packages with 5 cards each" or what not is included ... for the 2005-2006 Season, guranteed one collectible card (some "special" card, I don't know :p) ...
My question is, especially for me sine I work at one and get a discount, is it worth it to buy a pack and save the cards? I'm just thinking, I'll get some rookie cards, maybe some vets in the game out of all the packs ...
For $20 something, its an interesting proposition.
What do you guys think?
(To note, about half of the packs are now sold)_______________

It's very tempting, I'll tell you that much. Open up a new box, open up each pack seperately looking for Jerome or Sydney ... exciting
I have no idea why we're actually carrying them to be honest ..._______________

Hrmmm Crosby and Ovechkin Rookies? Could be a good deal.

Possibly, but for about 10 years now since the card craze took off, the card manufacturers have been putting out millions of cards. Cards for Crosby may be good, but with everyone and their dog owning one it's not so much the investment that buying cards once was.

Are you talking about the 'Blaster Boxes'? They sell for $24.99 and have 9 packs of Upprer Deck Series 2?
If so, yeah, those are good. If you're looking for an Ovechkin RC, which sells for about $125 on Ebay.
The Series 1 blaster boxes which are no longer sold were better though, because they had way more rookie possibilities...Crosby, Lundqvist, Richards, Carter, Steen, Phaneuf, etc...

I got a Crosby RC from the UD blaster box series 1 a while back, though I see it on eBay for $10 haha

Guess I'll hang onto it for longer...
I also got a Jagr Jersey Card, I would of thought it would cost a bit more then $3

yeah, it's series 2... you can find the ovechkin rookie in there... which isn't too bad... but it's not a guarantee that you will find a jersey card... those are 1 in 40 packs...
I got a couple and ended up getting more beckett value that I spent (I'll probably never be able to sell some of those cards though)

as a kid I found it was profitable, if you have young friends who are into cards
but, now all the $ is in magic & yugioh & pokemon cards
forget sports. you can make tons off the competitive card games

Check the price on ebay... if it's around the same price as ebay, it's a good deal.
