Urine Sample vs. Blood Test

This is a question for any nurses or doctors on this board.

1) What kind of diseases, drugs, alcohol etc...can only be detected through a urine sample and not a blood test (and vice-versa)?

2) In what instances is the urine sample more reliable and/or more accurate than the blood test (and vice-versa)?

LOL, Gretzsky eh? Looks the NHL is cracking down on coaches for illegal substance use too.

Anyways, alot of the blood cell and plasma proteins are very unlikely to be filtered or excreted into urine. If they are detected in the urine in high concentration, then you are more than likely to have some sort of kidney deficiency. But I'm not sure if theres anything you can detect in urine but not blood, since urine is really the filtered gunk from your blood.

As for ur 2nd question. I'm not sure.

You can detect way more drugs and diseases on fecal matter (toilet dumps) than in blood & urine samples, is this true?

Not really. Stool is best used to sample bacterium.

Urine checks for diabetes, kidney failure, UTI's, any illicit drugs (marijuana, coke, benzo's, etc), and some other diseases. You don't really diagnose from a urine sample though..

Blood can tell you much more- there are myriads of blood tests that can be ordered to reveal much.
