US Costco cash card 1:1 exchange rate

Was very surprised when I went to use my $500 US Costco cash card in Canada and was told it was worth $500 Canadian.

How is this possible? Anyone else have any experiences?

Since the Canuck buck is currently worth more than the US Greenback, I really don't know why you're so concerned. You're getting at-par value.

You hit the nail on the button ! Because our dollar > usa at the moment, this would mean savings on any purchase with in Costco, albeit the savings would be tied to the exchange rate at time of purchase - currently on par with Costco Amex cashback (2%).

Just did this through xe.com - $983.80 CAD = $1000 USD.

Exchange Rate: 1 CAD = 1.0165 USD Inverse: 1 USD = 0.9838 CAD
Sub-Total: 1000 USD = 983.80 CAD
Wire Fee: 0.00 CAD
Total: 983.80 CAD

You should have more than $500 since our dollar is higher than the US dollar.
