As for the Military Spending - most of that mony is spent in the US economy - everything from the paychecks for the soldiers to the equipment which is made in the US. Military spending stimulates the economy and military research has lots of technology spin-offs. Remember that the Internet came as a result fo DARPA

Somehow I have a feeling that if US government stop spending that much,
1. their economy will collapse
2. our economy will follow. We have a lot of business here directly and indirectly feeded by their military contract.
3. the world economy will also follow.
