Just my 2 cents.. but I buy my printer cables for $1.14 at the dollar store, and they work fine...; but they arent 2.0 usb, my computer is too old for that.

Dollar stores always have these for $1 each (Dollarama, Buck or Two, etc). Or through NCIX $0.09 sales as mentioned.

hot deal, not really. unless you need a bunch of USB cables.
cty has a deal for 15 footers right now. 1.99 for 15'. thats a deal
and ncix had some A-B's last week for 1.99 each. but thats kinda like a filler. when you can add another lb to your order without it costing anymore for shipping. price is avg though.
anyhoo, i just bought some a few months back of an ebay seller from hong kong. packaged arrived in 1 week less a day!!!!! no duties or taxes, marked with low value (as it should be) and works perfectly. seller name is "pointingmouse"
for example, search item number 150017857320
6' USB 2.0 A-B cable
$0.99 for the cable
$2.99 for shipping
$3.98 USD at your door (approx $4.40 CAD)
anyways, doller store is where its at if u need a few. they are usually very short cables, but they do the job just fine. frankly, a hot deal for a USB cable is kinda retarted. If you can find one for half the price, you saved..... 2 bucks. not worth the hassel, just find em on ebay and get em shipped._______________

Aug 4th, 2006 07:03 AM #9Yes, it has more to do with the ports and device than the cable.

Basically, if you buy a cheapie USB 1.1 cable, it may worl at full USB 2.0 speed, it may not. You won't know until you try it.
My reccomendation? Try a dollar store one first. If it doesn't work, you're out a dollar. If it does, you saved (at least) 5 dollars.

I really recommend monoprice for their cables. Their prices are great (compare the price of DVI or HDMI cables) and the delivery is cheap and fast!
Great retailer.

ebay?
Also try some ebay stores. CablesDepot (pretty sure the name) will ship from Canada and you can get some cables you won't be able to find in the dollar store.
I just got a USB to miniB USB (for Blackberry HotSync) for $5.50 all in... not too shabby.

How do you know they are working at USB 2.0 speeds -- maybe the speed is downgraded to 1.1 or 1.0?
