and ncix had some A-B's last week for 1.99 each. but thats kinda like a filler. when you can add another lb to your order without it costing anymore for shipping. price is avg though.

anyways, doller store is where its at if u need a few. they are usually very short cables, but they do the job just fine. frankly, a hot deal for a USB cable is kinda retarted. If you can find one for half the price, you saved..... 2 bucks. not worth the hassel, just find em on ebay and get em shipped.

Yes, it has more to do with the ports and device than the cable.

But, a cable is **supposed** to be "USB 2.0 compliant" as well. It basically means it meets minimum tolerances for interference and stuff. Usually they are a tiny bit thicker. But in most situations this isn't even needed.

Basically, if you buy a cheapie USB 1.1 cable, it may worl at full USB 2.0 speed, it may not. You won't know until you try it.

My reccomendation? Try a dollar store one first. If it doesn't work, you're out a dollar. If it does, you saved (at least) 5 dollars.

I really recommend monoprice for their cables. Their prices are great (compare the price of DVI or HDMI cables) and the delivery is cheap and fast!

that's correct, i also just buy them from the dollar store now.

however the ones i've gotten work fine at USB 2.0 speeds -- probably because that has to do with the endpoints (computer / printer) rather than the cable.

How do you know they are working at USB 2.0 speeds -- maybe the speed is downgraded to 1.1 or 1.0?
