Used car 25-30K

I'm planning on buying a car for work next summer (first job after grad). Budget: $25-30K. Mostly likely will go used, 2003 or later. I'm currently considering a 2003 Infiniti G35. Would appreciate any other suggestions. Gas & insurance isn't a huge problem, as long as its not more than that of the G35.

Honda Accord
Mazda 6
Toyota Camry
Nissan Altima
or anything in this class should be efficient in terms of usage and overall performance.

I would probably add Jaguar X type, MB C class, BMW 3 series as well as Mini Cooper S to the mix. If you're spending that type of money, you should get some snob appeal out of it.

Can you please describe some of the problems with the 2003 model or provide a link?

European brands aren't really in consideration due to reliability issues that I can't afford. I think I've considered almost all the other choices. It's pretty important to me to have a used car that looks relatively new, so that works against the Maxima, TL and IS300, which have been redesigned since the 2003 models.

Accord/Camry/Altima/6 - was hoping to get something better than these.

TSX - this is still a possibility. Obviously slower than the G35 but I think it has a nicer interior and build quality? Would anyone choose this over the G35?

Re leasing: I'm trying to save money. I plan on paying off the car in 2 years and after that, putting my money into a downpayment for a house. I'll be driving the car for probably 5-7 years.

I'd find out how much your insurance for a G35 coupe would be and then compare it with the sedan and the TSX. I'd take the G35x over the TSX anytime.

Leasing's awesome, but sometimes you just don't want to keep paying.

THe insurance on the TSX will be higher, since its a new car. Insurers guess on the high end of new cars, since there's nothing to compare to, for the cost to repair them.

I remember I had a first year (1999) Alero ( Alemon).
The insurance was more than my dad's Lincoln LS.
Thats because the Linclon was a 2 yr old model.

They're both company cars so the 'driver' of the car has no bearing on the rate.

Having said that, the TSX is gutless (we both test drove it on the hiway) and its smaller inside than the G35.
